@hayhor
I guess it makes sense if I remind myself that Apex is just a casual game. I automatically think of it as a skill based game, but obviously it is not. Has it ever been skill based?
Sure, I can see that happening. I just think that PK is a bit too strong, as the mastiff, to be part of the general loot.
R99 is OP, PK is OP, Charge Rifle is OP, Triple take is OP, Bocek is OP, Mastiff is OP, Spitfire is OP... This is how the playerbase proves that the weapons are actually well balanced and feel strong, they are not ticklers.
As for this being a casual game, nope. Apex Legends matches the definition of a hardcore game perfectly. The playerbase proves this as well, with the high levels of engagement and endless complaints.

@DoYaSeeMe
You have a diametrically opposite point of view.
I am convinced that Apex is a Casual game, and that it caters to the casual player mostly. With very little attention towards the more hardcore players because they are a minority.As you stated in various posts, and as devs confirmed, the advantages of upgrading from 20 tickrates to 64 or more are negligible given the audience obviously.
Any other competitive game has at the very least 64 tickrates (and 128 possibly, see ESEA for CS:GO, Valorant), despite of whatever argument about updating the entire world, or costs it may need.
Since devs are not willing, cannot go that route it means that it is either not worth it for the average player (meaning the average player is not competitive enough) or the game was not meant to be competitive in the first place --hence the way it has been coded does not allow for it to work with, say, 128 updates per second).
That is why I believe that Apex is a Casual game.
As far as weapons go, I'm interested in talking about the peacekeeper. I think other weapons are fine the way they are, but the bow (that would be another topic).

@VdstrkYou are confusing hardcore with pro / high level competitive. Casual games are those with a low skill ceiling. If Apex would be a casual game, you'd be able to beat Aceu, Shroud, ShivFPS, etc. like 50% of the time, even after only a few dozens of hours of playtime.
@MandatoryIDtag If regular 'bique is OP, what is there to say about the 1st of April 2020 Mozambique? 🙂

Here Aceu criticized the peacekeeper, SBMM and explicitly says the game is for Casuals....

Nope. Personal skills is a thing. A casual game is another.
Games like the division 2, apex, and deep rock galactic are casual games.
In the division 2 there is a pvp mode, and aim timing for healing etc all matter. However, the game bridges the skill gap by introducing RNG on how likely a player is to find good loot. Nevertheless a better player in the division 2 will generally overcome a weaker player. That fact, that the more skilled player generally wins does not make a game competitive. It is still a casual game. So is Apex.
Apex does the exact same, when dropping in game a shotgun that can 1/2 shot you from a decent distance.
Every game is a function of skills --to a point. RNG is the negation of those skills along with artificial modifications such as shotguns that can 1/2 shot you.
Another factor that makes Apex a non competitive game is RNG.
Traditionally speaking competitive games have eliminated the RNG factor. CS:GO has no RNG, and accounting for spread patterns the RNG is minimal. Valorant follows CS:GO. Quake has 0 RNG --while followed and played only by hardcore (those who you call tryhards in Apex) players it is one of the most skillful competitive shooters --it does not even have weapon recoil.The revenant ult for example, It makes it so you have to kill a players 1 and 1/2 times basically. So much for bridging the gap.... and much more.
So, no --sorry. Apex is a casual game who cannot adapt to become a competitive game because it has terribly unbalanced 1/2 shots guns, poor netcode, runs on poor servers, it has issues with audio, etc etc. etc...
It is fun to play? Sure. Are there people that try to push it and make is seem "more" competitive than what it is, sure. Mostly those people make thousands on stream though.
- 5 years ago@DoYaSeeMe This is why people often say that Season 2 was the most balanced. There were so many OP options that season. OP balances out OP. Just ask Overwatch players...cheese flying all over the place in that game lol.
I think they are getting back to that point where there are so many strong options in the loot pool they balance each other out. - 5 years ago
@DoYaSeeMe mozambique is OP, pellet spread is too tight. ;p
