Unfair matchmaking and lobbies!

Does anyone know how match making works?

I am currently level 9 on apex coming from a call of duty background and having played apex around my friends during season 2 and a little bit early season 3. I was loving the noob lobbies but since I got to level 7ish I was hoping to be in lobbies with people similar skills to me so I could get better and progressively improve, BUT I have been matched with ALL apex predictors and diamonds 20 kills badge, 4k damage badge, level 100 plus like 5000-21,000 kills like I have 47 kills with pathfinder. Feels like I'm playing predictor ranked games.

There is no way I can get 1 single kill, let alone get better at this game when I am in lobbies like this. I tired disconnecting (Sorry teammates) and trying to load up solo another game, tired playing different times of the day, tried changing the server and going on different servers but nothing, just keep matching up against these ridiculously experienced players.

I also tired squading up, so my mate who's like level 15 joined my party, so a level 9 and 15 probably total 100 kills between us... still didn't make a difference, we got put into a lobby where the champ squad all 3 were apex predators, all had 20k and 4k and the kills were 3800, 5100 and 12800 and was pretty consistent with that in all lobbies we joint. We kept dying in our first gun fight, tired some 3rd parties but still stood no chance. In the end he rage quite and potentially might not be playing with him anymore which kinda sucks tbh beause I want to play with my mates! Season 2 was more balanced it seemed? In a few games I played around my other mates we were having loads of fun on his account which was level 80 K/D 1.8 main was Wattson 2000 kills. I thought with a bit of expereince watching loads of youtube videos, playing a bit around my mates etc. I would have the upper hand when finally jumping on the apex bus but apparently that didn't matter at all? Getting melted regardless, when I should be playing against similar levels of players, level 1-25 I would expect.

Seems to me respwan and EA really need to fix the matchmaking and make it a bit more fair for us players that aren't that good, so hopefully one day we can be that good or else people will leave the game in frustration like my mate and not play it anymore.

  • @Henry_Chungster7 Same I'm lvl 81 and get match with lvl 157- 200 with thousands of kills, il try my best to keep up but the struggles to always loosing teammates disconnect or rage quit
  • it's clear they mine your system of data and take all the K/D stats from all your games in order to build a profile on Apex and set you up right from the start.

In all seriousness who knows how it works, I thought I had a clue but after getting paired with everyone in between good and bad I'm just as lost as you 😞

  • This matchmaking is like life. On a daily basis you deal with people worse and better than you in a variety of ways which you have to battle in some way, be it getting on a seat on public transport, first in line for that sweet sweet macdonalds or getting that promotion at your job or beating that nerdy kid in school.

This game is an extention of life and it isn’t supposed to be fair. It’s all how you deal with it.

Some drink camamille (I like writing it that way) tea, others rant on fora, some go boxing and others like to go out at night, get drunk, do a random fortnite dance to impress a potential partner and wake up the next day hungover with someone in their bed who claims they’re married..

    Pick your poison

    XD
  • @Henry_Chungster7You’ll be dropped a lobby or two if you can’t hang in those lobbies.

Are you playing with friends? Or are you playing with randoms?

If you’re playing with friends and they are high skill players, you’ll be put into high skill lobbies. It can be a bit frustrating, I have diamond and predator friends I play with. But the bright side is when I stop playing with them and go to my skill level lobbies, I go on a killing spree.

From there if your skill level is on par with high skill players.. then you absolutely must play with pre-made squads who have mics. When you get into the diamond/predator lobbies you need every advantage you can get because the skill gap between you and the other players is minimal. Having mics and communicating can mean the difference in those lobbies.

for example if you’re getting pinched, having a mic and being able to say run. Can save your squad. Having a mic and being able to tell your squad mates you don’t have the ammo, health or shields to push a fight can make the difference. Having a mic and being able to communicate exact locations of enemies.. it all plays a part.

So basically your telling us this game is no longer favorable to a solo player. We HAVE to group. We HAVE to talk. One of the things I enjoyed most of this game when I first started  playing it was its difference in team play without having to talk to people. With all communication built into game. I don’t enjoy talking to people or grouping. Statements like this make me think maybe it is time to move on. Apex clearly has a plan for this game. But to most of us average players it truly makes no sense. And appears they are not going share there thinking.  Game becomes less and less enjoyable every day. I’m personally a 1 game kind of person. Gave up Call of Duty for Fortnite. Gave up Fortnite for this game. Think it time go back Call of Duty I guess. Jump in a TDM and just shot away. Gotta be better then spending all my playing time looking at loading screen. Modern Warfare will be bought tomorrow.

  • I think we all have these kind of experiences , what you guys mentioned .

Same goes to hackers in games normal/ranked games .

Why don t they put some requirements like 50-100 lvl s for ranked games .

Hackers use low lvl accounts since the game is free and they ruin the games for everyone else.
There should be a solution for this type of problem as well, in my opinion.

  • @Henry_Chungster7 Im curious if you're on console or pc, because apex is based around movement. If you have good movement and decent aim you can win more fights. On the flip side if your aim is good but movement is trash, you're gonna die. Having good movement is easier on PC which I feel like, is where PC has the upper hand, but in cqc, console I feel like has the upper hand just from my own experience, I have both. I also wonder if you're playing cross platform, that could also be where some frustration is coming from as a new player.
  • People with the Apex Predator badge is earned by being the kill leader and finishing first at the end of a match.

The levels mean absolutely nothing in regards to the SBMM, that just shows how dedicated you are to completing the challenges. The highest you can go is Level 500, I've been at 500 for more than a year but honestly, with all the cheating going on, it's damn near impossible for me to improve my game. Sometimes I get lucky, grenade the hell out of the aimbotters from over the building and get lucky either knock or kill. Of course, they jump out of the game immediately after this happens. So they are trying to avoid getting caught and reported by as many people in our lobbies.

How sad do you have to be to use aimbots and other exploits?

    Ugh!
