Wattson node placement mechanism
I started playing this game a month ago and chose Wattson as my main because she offers a challenging and engaging gameplay experience. However, there's an aspect of her mechanics that diminishes my enjoyment: the nodes placement. Currently, the nodes snaps back to your feet if you look above the horizon, often resulting in ineffectively short fences during battles. This behavior feels counterintuitive, as looking upwards to place a node near your feet is unnatural.
The current system allows you to place a node directly at your feet by looking downwards and it extends forward as you raise your view until just before the horizon. Beyond this point, the node quickly retracts back towards you. This often happens in heated moments, making the fence too short to be effective.
A sound proposal is that the node should remain at its maximum distance as long as the player's view is above the maximum angle. This adjustment would simplify node placement, especially on consoles where joystick sensitivity can complicate precision. Making these changes would help make Wattson more accessible to new players and provide a more forgiving learning curve.
I've not seen this raised in here, but I've seen it in other forums such as reddit, adding a link from another player here who voiced this much wanted change better than me (https://www.reddit.com/r/apexlegends/comments/1axytyd/wattson_pylon_qol_change/)
I see no disadvantages to this change nor that anyone would be unhappy with it. Simply speaking, no one I've spoken to says they place nodes by their feet by looking up, instead this mechanism have them all running around looking at the ground when they should be scoping for enemies up and above (to the point I personally get nauseous and dizzy by looking at my feet while setting out these nodes).
