Good
1) Attention to detail is amazing. Tons of embedded lore.
2) Visuals - I know it is a matter of taste but I love the neon amd holographic touches. The Lotus & Galleria are highlights. The hologram koi as an example are super cool as am example (forget what POI they are in). I also want Mirage's cereal IRL.
3) Variety - They do reuse some assets but not as much as in other maps. Some of the buildings feel familiar (4 story zipline buildings for example) but aren't exactly the same. Every area feels very distinct and unique as a result.
4) Height - Tallest buildings in Apex and some crazy long ziplines. Put an Evac tower on top of one and you can get halfway across the map.
Bad
1) Absolutely massive - Storm Point feels small compared to E-District. Results in large areas surrounding POI's with absolutely no loot. Lots of running, especially to get around some of the high walls you can't get over with Valk or an Evac tower. Not sure why they didn't put urban Tridents in this map.
2) Loot distribution - Everybody I played with felt like the loot was just bad. Players had to really spread out on drop as a result. The bin resets helped; finding 3 gold bins next to each other is like Christmas.
3) New.movement tech doesn't really add anything new. The jump pads and mini grav cannons don't feel different and I haven't really used them in combat like I think the devs intended. The jump.pads don't really send you very far when you slide into them and I was hoping they'd feel more.like permanent Octane pads.
The reason you haven’t used any of those jump pads on a fight is because you can’t find anybody and when you do finding somebody in that specific location is very rare I literally went through two buildings bottom and top floor not one gun ammo a grenade, and I have two teams dropping at the same place. I have no shot. I won’t play tell the old maps are back Plus, I hate the new mode. You’re chasing a Valk or an octane or pathfinder even a loba CRYPTO is nearly impossible if you are on like fuse Etc… so they run and their teammates spawn back in right on top of you and then you have to kill them again and again, and one guy keeps hiding forces you to play a movement legend I loved call duty resurgence, but people didn’t have abilities to escape and hide with the tall building a good Valk can get away so easily and let’s call what is every game I won so far my teammate was a crypto, a random one and he would just go invisible until we respawn in he was so good at hiding lol {Invisibility} it got to the point where I would just push fights. I would’ve never pushed before because I didn’t care if I died because he was sitting there holding down the fort.
- HappyHourSumwur2 years agoSeasoned Ace@EPS1234 I can definitely see matches turning into "Find the Crypto" or "Chase the Valk". I also don't understand why it is the only mode in pubs; we should always have standard trios available, IMO. I also miss quads TBH.
The new mode is fine for what they are trying to do but will have some unintended consequences. Lesser skilled players may end up with KDR's around 0.1 because of how bad matchmaking is, for example. That's pretty damn discouraging and doesn't really help retain newbies.
