@RockDokRock You don't understand how RNG work. The odds do not increase with every pack opened. That's not how statistics work. The odds are a .5% chance FOR EVERY SINGLE pack, meaning you have a 99% chance at drawing something else, EVERY SINGLE PACK. It does not matter if you've opened 250 packs or 1 pack, it always a .5% for every pack opened.
The way you just explained it, you're increasing the percentage for every pack you have opened and it's not how this works or any gambling for that matter.
I don't know how else to explain this to you.
You're basically viewing it as you have 4 different outcomes, you draw one outcome and discard it. Now leaving you with 3 different outcomes.. So you're assuming that the odds of you getting 1 of the 3 outcomes you want is 33.33%.. You then draw another outcome and disgard that, you now have 2 potential outcomes left.. So you have a 50/50 chance at getting what you want.. But this is NOT how the RNG system or packs work. None of the outcomes are disgarded.
That .5% does not aggregate into a larger percentage as you open packs. The odds of heirloom stays at .5% for every single pack. The guarantee is an entirely separate function and nothing more than a counter that resets when you get a heirloom.

@DarthValtrex Then what does the apex pack heirloom calculator mean? When you input your battlepass tiers and levels, it calculates how many packs open & the percentage of receiving a heirloom in the next pack, if the odds doesn't stack then why is there a percentage at the apex pack calculator?
- 4 years ago@PangPangSheMen I can't seem to find what you're talking about. Can you post a screenshot?
- 4 years ago@Cheese9Man When you go to apex pack calculator https://mike.zarandona.com/coded/apex-packs-calc/ and input your level and battlepass tiers, it calculates how many packs opened and gives a percentage of the likeliness on you getting a heirloom on your next pack. So I thought packs stacked, 250 packs opened = 50% for heirloom on your next pack. But it doesn't look like the odds stack.
- 4 years ago@PangPangSheMen That percentage does not represent your odds of getting an heirloom. That percentage is how far are you until you reach 500 packs (100%) which gives you the guaranteed heirloom shards. Yes the odds does not stack.
- DarthValtrex4 years agoHero (Retired)@PangPangSheMen The apex pack pack calculator is third party software. People use it to guess or track the number of packs they have opened, so they can get an idea of how close they are to the 500 pack guarantee.
- 4 years ago@DarthValtrex Ok thank you, I was wondering why there was a percentage, I thought apex packs stacked where 250 packs opened = 50% for heirloom next pack.
- DarthValtrex4 years agoHero (Retired)@PangPangSheMen Nah, it would be really hard to set up an RNG that functioned like that. They would have to be removing prizes from the prize pool.
It's simpler and easier for Respawn to just do it this way. The only way they could increase the odds of getting heirloom like you suggest would be to remove items from the loot pool once you've received them. But instead of doing that, they give you crafting mats. So the odds always stay the same. Basically they would have to lock those items on the RNG and force it to skip up or down one item until the player had unlocked everything. There are numerous reasons for not doing that though.
