What has Apex cost you?

I'm curious.  After reading another thread here where the poster lamented being unable to play on the account he'd spent 600 euros on due to sbmm, and after looking up the exchange rate of usd to euros.....

What? $1 USD = $.90 euro.....

$540.

Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

So now I'm wondering.  For those that constantly shout "FIX YOUR GAME" what have you spent at this point? I'm genuinely curious to see of there is a correlation between dollars spent,  and poor perception of the state of affairs in game.

Five. Hundred. Forty. Dollars.

That would pay my mortgage for a month...

I could buy a beater car to fix & flip for that...

A new PC... or one of each console...

Good God man.

So here, I'll go first. I've spent exactly $40 USD on Apex Legends and am pretty content with the game.

Your turn.

@Pure_Funk_Nugget I wanted to give him the investment lesson also but in the digital realm of Gaming It seems like people mean time as well as money is what is invested more than them thinking they will get a return on their purchase. I mean if you spend that kind of money on a game you better well be playing it. I wouldn't take @WickXI literally, more of a semantics thing when people use the term incorrectly.

I mean there may be some value in the account should it be on PC. I have bought and sold many accounts in my day. Often turning profits. I have even dabbled in power leveling services making plenty of profit off of games. If any one remembers City of Heroes back in the day!

I was a backer for Crowfall and decided to sell my account and doubled the money put in. I also flipped 3 other Crowfall accounts turning profits on those also. To their Credit Artcraft allows a trusted trader program so it is totally legit to sell accounts and items.

    Anyway, you get the point.
  • Roughly about 50 quid, give or take. Would happily pay double that for a decent anti cheat though.

@-BiA-Pesqez Girl...friend? Never heard of that mixed with me in the same line... just ask my exes...

(No... no boyfriends... thats always the ‘joke’ people tend to make :P)
  • I've bought the battle pass, but what keeps me from spending more money on this is that I play at EA's pleasure.  My account, and everything in it, exists at their pleasure, I don't own it.  So if buy a skin, I don't own it.  I can't even play the game if they cut me off for some reason.  I know we often mock those who are banned and say "I did nuffin!" but we all know we're dealing with a cold corporate entity here.  It can happen.

For that, i won't spend a lot.  I certainly won't put heart and soul into it.

  • @Nurrffed can't any game do that?

Fortnite has done it to players.

It's just about following the rules, if you can't do that, than you shouldn't be one their games.

I think I'm $40-$50 in and I'm fine with the game. The hours of entertainment I have received for $50 is well worth it. Will I spend more? If it continues to be enjoyable for me and there is something cool to spend some money on.

@iBlockHead Sure you're right; I spend a little, not a lot, though. The minute I start spending something's bound to happen. That's the pessimist in me.
  • @Nurrffed I understand what you're saying though. Anything can happen.

My first time pre-ordering games was a horrible experience and because of that, I have never done it again.

I pre-ordered the first SWBF and The Division 1 and dropped $100 on each to get both special editions. Big mistake, both games went on sale for 50% the next month, SWBF went on sale for I believe $20... and that was the special edition, both games eventually offered the content I paid for for free the next year....... ☹️

  • season 0 until mid season 2 I played with a regular group and had no problem spending. Code errors drove all of them off the game. I decided then that I would not spend any more money and haven’t since. I would guess prior to my spending freeze between mine and my sons accounts it would be 500-750.
And yes I am angry paying and supporting a game that just flips on itself so much. This game has great potential but falls short with every dc.
