What is Skill Based Match Making Based Off

This is the third day in a row that Apex is just not worth playing. Constantly getting outplayed by masters and pred squads with zero chance for my team to win. Is it based on level, k/d, time played, previous match performance? I can tell you right now that none of those qualities would match a masters or pred player. Either make it random so that there are level 12s in my lobbies that don't know how to slide to balance out the lack of fun of getting one clipped from 300 feet away. Has apex confirmed what their metrics are because at this point pubs are basically unplayable.
