The developers are very aware of a lot of these problems and have addressed many of them, being a Battle Royale it's fair to say that every issue the game might suffer is amplified because of nature of the format.
I thought I would just go through the list of your issues and try and address the ones I could if that's okay?
- Audio is bad - The audio isn't the worst but it could do with improvement - Especially regarding footsteps and verticality, I think it can be very output specific as I've seen people having very different results with different headphones.
- Hit registration is bad - Yes and no, I think this is more to do with ping, everyone is playing at different speeds so it's never going to be perfect.
- Legends are unbalanced - Legend changes are always coming and the balancing will always shift, this keeps things interesting and won't stop, every legend is dangerous in the right hands, some more than others.
- Weapons are broken and unbalanced - Similar to legends the changes to the weapons are always coming, some will be super strong in one season and less so in another, I think if a weapon is dominating then it needs to be adjusted but less powerful weapons are a part of the RNG battle royale way of life.
- Optimization is bad
- Constant crashing - I get crashes every so often but most of the time it doesn't affect my game, the devs have been fixing these problems pretty efficiently in the last few weeks and I haven't had any issues in the last week at all.
- Cheaters running around that have been playing since season 1 and have not been banned. - As a Ps4 player I haven't really witnessed any cheaters in the game, but the devs have given you the ability to report players on PC that are cheating, and lots of players have been banned in the process. the last thing we want however is players that are not cheating and that are just good at the game being banned because an algorithm says they should be.
- Origin stalling
- Friend invites not working properly
- Comms are distorted and pure garbage. - Agree on this to a point, for some reason the audio quality is very poor, even on PS4, if I swap to PSN party chat the audio quality improves dramatically, not to mention the fact that audio drops out during loading screens, I would appreciate a fix to this too.
- Devs not listening to community feedback - They do but they're not beholden to the demands of the community, all we can do is suggest and hope that they take out suggestions on board.
- Broken SBMM - SBMM is here and there, it's gotten a lot better in the last month but still far from perfect. I hope the whole system changes eventually to a system that works for everyone.
- Broken Rank Point system that does not get hot fixed immediately but instead after the end of the season where players are threatened with "judgement day" (with season 4 i am referring to the crypto exploit which i bet you they will not fix till either mid season or at the end which will probably result in another threat from them to those who abused it) - I guess just don't play with fire?
- A lack of options when it comes to details in your report system and not to mention USELESS report system that does nothing but give you a sense of hope that said cheater will get banned only to see him a few days later still in the game aimbotting away. - Report him again?
- Over Priced cosmetics - Yet we still buy them
- Events that you release with massive amounts of bugs or problems but honestly imo is just there to try and cash in on heirlooms locked behind massive paywalls - It's how they make money though the game, and is their right. Bugs will be bugs but we find them and they fix them, then new ones come, it's part of the process.
It's been a year but a year in this kind of game's lifetime is nothing really. QOL improvement will keep on coming, and we'll keep on playing. It's clear that you're passionate about the game and you want it to be perfect but you have a to exercise patience. The devs have to balance their time between new content and improving quality of life, it's just part of the process.
- 6 years ago@Cabowse i mean no disrespect to you but honestly your response to my post comes off like you are doing nothing but making excuses for them. I will respond to the parts that you responded to.
The audio. I have played every BR there is and i can tell you that Apex legends has by far the WORST audio problems i have ever seen. This is not some sort of hardware problem on our side. I have seen people with all types of headsets having these issues. A perfect example of a major audio problem is the devotion. It randomly just does not have any audio when you are being lazered down with it. The footsteps are inconsistent and the vertical audio is barely even there. This is a major problem to have in an FPS game, especially a fast paced BR like apex.
The hit registration. You say its because of ping difference ? I have 30 ping on the data centre i am set to. So 30 ping causes have my r99 shots to not register ? 30 ping causes my kraber shot to simple not register on a target that is standing still ? I dont think so. Its called having garbage tickrate servers.
For one im not going to address your response to the cheating situation since you play on console so in all honestly your opinion is irrelevant. Play on PC and then we will discuss it.
Your response towards us buying over priced skins. I hate the fact that the skins are over priced and i can guarantee you a majority of people do considering there is multiple articles written about it. Not to mention the whole fiasco that started with the iron crown event. You responded to me with "yet we still buy them"..yes, we do, u know why ? Because we want to support the game..we buy these skins not only for the looks but also to show our support, HOPING that the money we pump into this game goes to actually improving it but its not heading in that direction at all. Its actually going backwards and that is whats so concerning. This game is bleeding more and more as time goes by and nothing seems to be done about it.
" It's how they make money though the game, and is their right. Bugs will be bugs but we find them and they fix them, then new ones come, it's part of the process."
You are right, its how they make money, bugs will be bugs, but guess what...they are not fixing the bugs at all. The same bugs that have been in this game since the start is STILL in the game. The only difference is there is now MORE bugs.
There is simply no excuse. I am a very patient person , if i wasnt i would have dropped this game along time ago but here i am still playing because why ? I guess i am a sucker for punishment and I dont learn or simply cant accept that this game wont get better. I see no light at the end of the tunnel.
If you enjoy playing a broken game than that is your perogative. I on the other hand dont and as someone that has invested allot of money in to this game i expect a better experience. Its not a sense of entitlement. Its an expectation. If you put money into something you expect that product to get better and not get worse.
I will say though you do a good job at making excuses for a company that simply gets screwing over their player base. You should apply for a job with EA , they can put you in front as their spoke person for whenever they need to dribble a bunch of BS to the community about how much they care and how they are working so hard to give us what we all want.
Thanks for your dissection of my post though. It amazes me what people will do just to hold a forum rank. You sure are a champion. Atleast to EA you are. - 6 years ago
@Cabowse With all due respect bud the audio might not be the worst, but that doesn't change the fact its god awful, the constant barrage of extra sound effects that emulate or drown out footsteps is horrendous.
The hit reg issues are only amplified by high ping, i'm playing on 10 ping and having this issue.
Legend balance i can forgive, it's really hard to achieve a perfectly balanced roster considering the increasing numbers.
I honestly can't comment on the crashes, i've never once experienced this.
Again as a ps4 player i don't really have the cheater issue but it does seem pretty damn prevalent.
Cba commenting on the rest. XD
- 6 years ago@MandatoryIDtag I think you're right about the audio there, it seems usually pretty fine until there are a bunch of extra sound effects and then loads of sounds like footsteps just go completely out of the window.
The ping thing, I mean i'm just not sure, does it make a difference when you're shooting someone with a really bad ping rate even when you have high?- 6 years ago
@Cabowse Well i mean with regards to the hit reg, i was playing on the most basic internet package you can get in the UK(something like 12 mbps) and saw a substantial increase in hit reg issues to the point where maybe 1/3 of my hits actually registered damage, before season 4 i didn't have this issue at all.
A few days in i upgraded my internet to 150 ish mbps and the issue with hit reg did drop dramatically however i am still getting hit reg problems sporadically. My issues with movement also mirrored the hit reg issues between the different internet speeds.
So with regards to this issue i think its split between both the user and the game.

Yes, the audio mixing and spacial code is really messed up bad.
Also, the Push to Talk feature is sub-par, it's not compatible with all chipset but the hands free works fine, in terms of volume and less distortion but far from crystal clear.
