Why no derank?

Hi, trash player here, gold level in overwatch, definitely bronze-silver in apex. Why am I still unable to derank back down to bronze or silver? I'm getting so many points for just camping and I'll be out of bronze in like an hour or two tops. It's been 5 months since the release. If I get up to gold again, I'll have to quit, because I can't handle that level of aim from other players. I don't feel like this is fair personally for really terrible players and this won't be fair for great players that get stuck with bad teammates against equal skill enemies, like me. 😞

  • You can't derank from gold to silver. Treat it as a learning experience. Last season i was gold, this time we got to diamond with my friends and yesterday we got wrecked hard in each game (dying right after we landed) for the whole day. If its going bad, play some casual mode games, maybe take a day off and try again. Thats the best way to get better in the game.

  • @HenryCavilsBulge  firstly i tip my hat to your brutal bit of self acknowledgment there.

Rather than trying to derank though, why not try to polish your skills instead? You'll learn more from difficult games than you ever will from easy ones. Plenty of people in here would be happy to offer tips and advice.

Sucks for me aswell.....I dont learn anythign from getting laserd.  Litterly every enemy kills me in a blink of an eye, no matter what i do.  I stand no chance and prolly give up soon 🙂

Not weird this game has such low player-base if you ask me.  You can get ranked litterly cus a good squad carries you and in the end you (as still noob) only encounter good players cus you got ranked a few times thanks to a good squad.

edit: after aprox 20 games, i give up....i see more laoding/lobby screens than the actual game.  Dropping without a single weapon, getting laserd trhough smoke.  I say goodbye to this game

I'd love to polish my skills, but when I'm getting blown up before I can even react, it gives me no time to polish said skills. That's why I belong in bronze/silver until I can actually push myself up to and past gold. Last season, I tried to do this for 5 hours and didn't get any points. I feel bad for other people that get placed with me and lose rank points because I can't derank and go back to where I belong.

Sounds to me like you should work on stuff like your recoil control and evasive movement, once you get these nailed the rest just comes with experience.

Firing range is great for recoil control as it's fixed for most weapons, shoot a wall to see the weapons pattern, then just gently adjust your mouse/analog stick to compensate. Keep doing this until you can fire a full clip in a pretty tight spread. Then progress to doing it while strafing/jumping etc....that'll cover your basic movements too.

Apex rewards people that master it, lady luck is very rarely on your side. 😛

ranked mode is nothing for me

Too many premade squads with discord or other communication.

SBMM in normal mode is much more fun

  • You clearly have no idea what you are talking about when it comes to Ranked mode in Apex. Also the player base in this game is pretty damn big. Its not as "small" as you think it is. If Apex had a "small" player base then they would  not have won best multiplayer game of the year. I do agree with you about deranking. If you are not good enough to maintain the rank that you are then you should be deranked until you can maintain a higher rank.

You cant rly get carried in ranked mode because the RP system is based on your own contribution. There is no way for you to get carried by good players. If you joined an apex predator you would be thrown into his rank pool which means you will get destroyed instantly. The only way you can get RP if you are being "carried" is by getting the crumbs for squad position and that's not so simple either and if you plan on playing like that then well...have fun maybe getting gold rank. If you are lucky.

Bronze silver and gold is where most people end up. Plat and up is where the grind rly starts.

    This was for season 1

    Ranked

The distribution breakdown was 5.1 percent at Bronze, 40 percent at Silver, 35.7 percent at Gold, 16.8 percent at Platinum, 2.1 percent at Diamond, and a mere 0.2 percent at Apex Predator. The majority of players made up the Silver and Gold ranks

    -------------------------------------------------------

Also i understand it can be frustrating to get rolled constantly but that's how you learn. When i started playing apex i got dominated as well and im pretty sure most other people did too. Its frustrating but that is how you learn and get better.

    in other words, "Get gud"

  • @HenryCavilsBulge most of us have been there when I first started i was in the same situation constantly getting stuck in low gold. Just start spending some time in the firing range before you play to work on your aim; or just grind it out in pubs both with help a bunch even though it doesn't feel like it. Personally map knowledge, game sense, and movement are prolly the big three to focus on for ranked, the aim will get better. I've been playing since launch and this is the first split I've made it past gold. Just keep your head up, positive vibes flowing, and youll get there homie
