There is no worse playerbase in Ranked than Hard-stuck Play IV players. Period. They're bad decision making allowed them to still get past gold but stuck in plat. They are 99% of the time the worst randoms to get as a teammate.
Hard Stuck Diamond 4s suck too. Theyve made it to diamond, but cant seem to make progress so they drop hot and push poorly because they have nothing to lose. Deranking needs to be in BR like it is in arenas.

@CocoaHyena But that's exactly my point...they aren't bad players at all. They are doing exactly what the scoring system forces them to do.
You get 'Hard Stuck' at Platinum not because you are a bad player, but because the scoring system is super trash. If you can stop blaming players, and maybe look from a different point of view, if those players actually got reward for, say, actually beating people who were better than them, then they would actually play differently.
It is, in my opinion, a mistake to blame players for a Respawn problem. And also all too easy. Hot dropping is not a noob tactic in gold, it is what some people, with good evidence, consider they need to do. And they really aren't getting rewarded at all for doing something else. Removing tier protection will absolutely not solve this problem, as you'll instead just have people get to a certain rank and then continue all the other bad behaviors you see because they'd be too afraid to lose ranked points.
What would make sense, far more sense, is to let people who beat others at their play level advance. If you get into top 10...the half way mark, and you get 1 kill, you should not be losing points. Probably you should get exactly +1 point, which is definitely not going to get you to diamond. But that is barely across the line, anyway. If you are killing 1 person at your level, and placing higher, you should not be massively rewarded, but you are actually performing better than the others who are now dead....so your score should reflect that.
People look at the scoring system and I believe the first thing they see is that at Platinum, the scoring system is worthless. They realize there is no difference between Platinum IV players in any way, shape or form. You only even get to Platinum III if you've lasted long enough against players far better. So might as well hot drop and try their luck. Or might as well just play charge the nearest thing you see...because you need so much to advance through platinum let alone get to diamond. If they fail, oh well. If there was no tier protection, they'd do something far worse.
So, that's really all this is about. I think it's the straw man argument to keep talking about the plat players. You want to fix the problem? Fix the scoring system and the players will follow.
- 4 years ago@KelRiever I agree that the ranked scoring system is flawed, specifically, that it is taylored to campers and people who avoid fighting until final ring.
I thoroughly disagree, that people who get hard stuck at Plat IV are not bad players. They are. They aren't noobs per-se, but they ARE bad. They keep making their poor mistakes, bad decisions, bad drops, bad pushes, against other SKILLED players where that B.S. isn't going to get them into higher ranks.
You need to know what fights to take, and what not to. You need to not push a fight solo when your team isnt near you, or split off from them in the first place.
No matter how they change the system, you can do stupid s**t and still make progress up a few ranks. But platinum is when Ranked grinds ACTUALLY begin. Where your decision making, gun skill, positioning, rotations, etc all begin to matter. And if you still just drop hot like you did in gold, not because you needed to, but because you wanted to, you will consistently have -36 point games and never climb.
So yeah, if you're stuck at Plat IV, its cuz you're playing poorly. You're not getting kills, assists, or placement, and this is because you made bad decisions that did NOT keep you alive.- 4 years ago
You only get to say someone is bad if you are higher than Platinum IV and are speaking relatively. Because bad means worse than average and that's not true statistically. Only in relation to another player who is higher rank.
That's a fair point, but what it is, to me, is still trash talking players. If you're good you're good, and then what you are being is a sore winner. I mean, if you're good, you shouldn't need to put other people down but that's what people do. Me, I do not care because I know the truth. But I know a lot of people get put off by such things and frankly, they are right to be put off by it.
Bottom line is Platinum players are completely above average players. You might be better than average and call another better than average player who is worse than you bad. But on an absolute basis, that is factually wrong.
