I'll answer both at the same time - 100% give the kill to whoever done the highest damage. ESPECIALLY when someone has taken someone from full red down to one hit, and someone throws in one bullet.
dSKy, I'm glad you think you know what I would say - it must be amazing being able to see the future (oh yea, major sarcasm - because you're incorrect about that)
If I got loads of low damage kills, it wouldn't bother me as much maybe, but I don't. I have a * KDR (part of that also being the constant kicks by the EAC).
Almost every game, I lose two to three kills minimum - come out with nothing (No, I don't get high kill counts) and in every one of those instances, my teammates leave with those kills, and * all damage. Feels like I'm playing everyone else's game.
I would more than happily give up getting those last shot kills, to get the ones I work my * off for.
Easy set up:
In team, a player does more than say, 70/75% damage, they get the kill.
Out of team, leave it as it is - makes third partying work.

They fixed it this season, you get just as much for an assist as a kill. For the record in Apex KDR is the most useless stat in the game, if you play your party role correctly you might get bundles of assist and few kills or other way around, all dependant on what role you got in the team. I seen what KDR hunting does to the game, shitloads of people quitting before they are boxed.
- dSKyNafinchin4 years agoHero (Retired)@SewerTierGamer That was more of a generalization, but with how predictable the gaming community is these days, one can almost predict the future with decent accuracy. A lot of people just want something to complain about these days, and it doesn't matter if the "issue" is "fixed", as they will just find the next thing to complain about. I see it on a daily basis, whether it be gaming or at work.
On topic though, as others have pointed out, the entire point of a Battle Royale is to be the last man standing, and KDR is pointless. Kills quite literally do not matter. I have a few wins on Apex with 0 team damage. I have matches with 1,500 dmg and no kills, with multiple assists. I have games with 300-500 dmg with 8+ kills. The final bullet that damages the enemy, gets the kill, as it should. It's often referred to as the "kill shot".
@hayhor Lmao that would be an insane way to count kills!! Maybe a future LTM?- SewerTierGamer4 years agoSeasoned Hotshot

Fair point - apologies for the bitchy reply - was having a bad night. A very bad night (not game related).
'Kill shot', yes, I know. And I get what you're saying on the other stuff, but that's for you - I get VERY few wins.Mostly because the way the game is gone, I play solo through trios constantly - I get mowed down. So the ONE thing I can aim for, is KDR - even if I were only able to keep it at 1-1 (unfortunately, I don't even get to do that. SO when I do have a good game, come out with over 1k damage, and no kills, while a team mate has 100 damage and 4, you can believe it gets frustrating. Especially when their greed leads to us getting slaughtered, because they were so busy kill stealing, that they completely ignore the other two players, who mow us down.
It's definitely a thing that is fixable, and can be made more 'fair'.I don't play ranked at all by the way - no time for the attitudes there - so KDR/kills etc is WHY I play.

I'm totally with the topic creator: it happens to me all the time that I do the main work when rushing a team, shooting them down to 10- 20 % of their HP.
Then my mates appear out of nowhere, start spraying their Rampages and get all the kills. I get the assists.Unfortunately, assists are secondary. In Apex it's all about the killcounter - that's how the players define themselves, for that there are trackers and with the kills the K/D is calculated. Someone who wants to be successful in this game will try to define this by a high kill rate.
There is no "assist leader" or an "assist tracker".
