Keep in mind that hardwired connections can still have some issues.
Next to that, your ISP could also be encountering issues, resulting in you getting disconnected from the game.
The server would not be able to detect if the issue is on your end or on the ISP's end, hence why it's still giving a penalty.
I'd recommend reaching out to your ISP to check if there aren't any issues on their end.
Playing on a different datacenter might also help.
