Likewise,I've worked my way through a fair amount of shooters & struggle to see a shooter that rivals Apex (or at least an Apex game that isn't affected with bug/performance issues).I tried Hyper-Scape several times & it just feels very buggy, not a very smooth game to play & yes some of special powers are pretty cool but the weapons just feel lacklustre.Fortnite feels like a very stale Rogame merely being propped up the skins/characters they offer,it used to be a fun game to play but last few seasons it feels pretty awful game to play now.The game just feels like it is loaded with bots because it doesn't have the player base it had.(& players drop off at an alarming rate during the game).Hunt Showdown is pretty good but is a duo based game & is a real struggle played as a solo.Rogue Company isn't too bad but feels underwhelming (particularly the characters) compared to Apex.I loved the first Overwatch game & personally feel the second game can't come out soon enough.I've never played Valorant but feel kind of put off by it whenever I've seen it being played on GINXeSportstv(channel 433 on Sky).
It's funny how a lot of people feel so alike.
I was pretty interested in Valorant and got a key for the closed beta, but ended looking at one of their Twitch teasing and was like "a bad Counterstrike with powers" (I did not know Overwatch at the time).
Rogue company pretty much hyped me with their trailers, but it ended being overwhelming, it felt like an average CS with powers, but good ideas and not so much interest to use this since finally mostly only aim count... It also felt clumsy, not easily accessed and dull in action.
Overwatch has more personality and impact, but now that I know Apex, I think it is quite superior on the movement/gameplay side.
Hyperscape I did not try but it was said to me it was "generic".
There's also the Cycle?
But we gotta hope Respawn get it right after all...
