‘Part damaged’ and ‘Vehicle damaged’ still don’t display enough info to us
Part damaged has been there for a while, but ultimately it’s just a pointless pop up since it doesn’t give any specific info whatsoever. But ‘vehicle damaged’ appearing in the patch notes had me believe that we would finally get some kind of live damage counter. Alas we did not.
previously, you would gain points based on the exact damage you dealt to a vehicle, those points of which accumulated to display on your score counter on the scoreboard (which I still think is far superior to the system we have now, but that’s for another time).
the problem I face is that this information means literally nothing. The exp you gain is always 20, and the part damaged doesn’t actually tell you what part has been damaged, so there’s no point in actually displaying this.
it’s been however many months since launch and I still don’t even know the exact damage values of the M5 launcher or the stinger, and how angles / side of a vehicle hit multiplies that damage. Changing the exp values to represent the damage you’ve dealt would allow me to, and provide information that has really been standard in every bf game I’ve played.
if I get ‘engine damaged’ then I know the tank is stuck and can capitalise on that. If the turret is damaged then I know I can run around it and not get shot.
the same can be said for infantry, the classic incremental point counter on hit is gone, so now you can’t tell the actual amount of damage you’ve done to someone. Which is important to know given this game’s lag problems, as well as the advantage that information provides such as how many shots it specifically takes to kill someone.
once again I feel the healing and support exp rewards should be changed too. In the very last game you would get points equivalent to the total you healed. Which made medics a viable role if you want to top the scoreboard because 2 heals was almost equivalent to a kill. Not only that, but knowing how much you’ve healed someone for actually makes you feel like you are having an impact on someone and actively helping them.
so ultimately, the exp / score values we have now do not provide nearly enough information that was present in past games. You can keep it as exp if you are adamant to do so, but I’d like to at least know what part I’ve damaged and how much I’ve damaged a vehicle for exactly.
