I've been playing BF2042 for for almost a year now on 1440p. My hardware allows me to play the game on amazing settings with 120-140fps.Therefore, I never questioned the resolution of 1440p and my monitor is designed for 1440p at 165Hz.Just for fun, I decided to switch the game to 1080p recently and oh boy the game became so much betterThe graphics seem optimized and native now (as if everything was extrapolated on 1440p)There are lots of improvements I noticed such as quicker enemy spotting/seeing when moving the cross-hair near an enemyEnemies are more visible in generalRecoils of my favorite weapons definitely went downShooting and movement in general feels kind of more soft and not so "bumpy" as before (not due to fps increase)Stuff like that.Honestly: the look and feel of BF2042 is like a different game on 1080p now. Everything you see on the screen works smoother and in higher in quality plus less "washy".Did any one else notice this?I'm not gonna post my hardware here as nothing else was touched except the resolution

I haven't played on 1080p for a decade on PC. 2042 looks great on my setup and monitor at 3440x1440.

@sk1lldOr it does but it’s not turned on. It’s surprising how many places you have to navigate to go to get everything set up. HDR in 2042 has been pretty awful really so he’s not missing out.

I don't think his monitor supports HDR and that's why it's greyed out.

@ONGOlNG_PROBLEMDo you have Vsync or Future Frame Rendering on? Also dynamic resolution. All of these are on by default, so if you haven't touched them, they're likely on.

@ONGOlNG_PROBLEMTo be fair, it is normal for these games to be designed around 1080p because it is the main resolution people use. It seems the jump from 1080 to higher takes a lot more time than the jump from 720 to 1080

Personally I play on a 1080p monitor but I set my nvdia card use that DLDSR to supersample into 1440 while on a 1080p screen. I am satisfied with the result

I'm using an AMD card without Adrenalin software.
All the supersampling/extrapolating features are not there or turned off.
Basically just the GPU driver and non-fancy BF settings.

@ONGOlNG_PROBLEM When using a sniper in large terrains, high resolution is very useful. You can scan the map quickly and detect enemies rapidly. However, in narrow small corridors, 1080p is advantageous.

@Lady_One I am actually talking about identical settings at 1440p and 1080p.
The only difference is the resolution.
Changing it to 1080p gave me the mentioned improvements.
And I find that weird because now BF seems to be made for 1080p and everything above feels like a downgrade in the look and feel.
Anybody here who plays on 1440p and is willing to switch down to 1080p for 2-3 matches?
Without changing any other ingame settings.

Dynamic resolution might be optimized for 4k resolution. Which might explain why 1080p looks better because it evenly divides into 4k.
I would try turning off dynamic resolution in 2042 settings and see if that makes 1440p look better.

Played 1080p up until recently and can say that 1440p looks so much better. What monitor and settings do you run?

@Lady_One & @OskooI_007 Vsync is on (was always in 1440p too), FFR and dynamic res off (just as in the past). DR would be noticeable, if the general Windows resolution was 1440p and the ingame 1080p. When I played 1440p it was identical so when switching to desktop during the game (ALT + Tab) I'd see the desktop right away.
Now it understandably changes from 1080p ingame to 1440p on desktop
@sk1lld Dell S2722DGM settings are not really important besides Vsync, FFR or DR in my opinion.

Your monitor's native resolution should have been the ideal one to play with.
