2042 could be ok
I created an EA account specifically to post my thoughts on 2042, so I dunno how any of this works or where this goes but I gotta say something about it somewhere. Aight.
I could live with the impotent AR and Marksman classes. I could almost live with the nonexistent aim assist for controller players such as myself. I could live with the maps having a lot of dead space, (I actually kinda like it because it’s honestly more realistic and makes you think about how to move around the field) I could live with the subpar weapon modification system structure, (Seriously, why tf can’t I put a suppressor on my extended barrel?) and I could almost live with the 50 million vehicles running around at once, especially the damn prowlers or whatever they are. What I cannot live with is the fact that there is no check on said vehicles for the average infantry. The M5 recoilless rifle is both unguided and severely underpowered. It fails to have a significant effect on 90% of ground vehicles, and the chance of hitting a helicopter that’s been strafing your squad for the past 3 minutes straight is slim to none, as, as I said, it possesses no guidance system and its velocity is so poor, one must be half machine to be able to calculate for flight time and properly lead the small, fast moving target. This lack of ability of the infantry to effectively combat enemy armor and aircraft are what make the game so infuriating to those of us who really do want to see it do well. It would be less of an issue if there weren’t so damn many of them on the field at once, and it would be completely rectified with the addition of dedicated launchers. By dedicated I mean some kind of javelin-type launcher for defeating enemy armor, and a stinger type launcher for defeating enemy aircraft. Make the tradeoffs whatever you want, it’s your game, but understand that the combat of 2042 is lacking a critical cog in the balancing machine, and only by introducing effective anti-vehicle infantry weapons will you fix it.
