I don't know Planetside 2 at all so I looked up a comparison article with Battlefield 2042 maps between older/ different titles. Compared to COD Warzone I can get a feel for how big they are, still they don't seem that big to me.
I'm 100% guessing, but the only conclusion I can come up with is Battlefield 2042 won't feature cross-play, at launch at least. I came up with that because of how they're talking about bots for a game that hasn't even been released, why?
I'm glad the game will feature bots for the people who want it, but being it's a paid game, I would like features that are in my interest, Bots are not one of them.
I honestly find it more enjoyable knowing that each and every ingame character I come in contact with is a real person. It's one of the core parts of the online multiplayer sandbox. You shoot someone, they die and come back for you.
This cat & mouse game is part of Battlefield. I have a hard time believing the bots will feature that, plus just automatically giving away peoples positions just by shooting at everything willy-nilly.
If the game features cross-play, I'll feel better about bots, but I still think the paid user should have a say so if they want them or not.
Planetside 2 continents are a LOT bigger than Warzone. So it could be an extreme example. They are basically 8km x 8km. But they also can accommodate thousands of players. 128 players is a medium sized skirmish in Planetside 2.
Still I could see a round of Plunder on Warzone being pretty boring if say you only had 30-40 players.
But then Conquest is going to spread the action out across the BF2042 maps a lot more than Warzone. That will thin the action out significantly if you only have a half full server.
