Add a server browser
DICE, please add a server browser. I cannot find matches in my region(India). I am just stuck on the waiting for players screen and the match never starts or there are only 20-30 players in a match. ...

I agree with everything you say, MM just detracts from this title in so many ways, I even told them so in their survey.

Without a doubt a SB / PS is still the #1 missing element from BF2042, something we enjoyed in all previous BF's which was essential to the smooth running of those games.
In previous BF's we had the ability to chose to play on our favourite servers and stay on a server all day playing with friends / clan members.
We were able to play through the complete map rotation without interruption which meant we spent more time actually playing as opposed to waiting to play in an MM lobby.
Just think how much better BF2042 would be if players had control of how / what / where they played.
It would be a lot less frustrating and time consuming that's for sure.Imho the sooner MM is replaced with a proper Server Browser / Persistent Servers the sooner we can get back to playing Battlefield the way it was meant to be played and the sooner we can start to rebuild the BF community.
It's been over two years since this thread was started. Is Dice seriously pretending there is no problem?
People are demanding what seems to be basic functionality, and Dice is apparently pretending not to notice anything. Well, they will soon add something like another "visual recoil", supposedly based on player requests.
Will the drama with the server browser in BF 2042 ever end? It's unbelievable how, despite the huge interest of the community, hundreds of posts, you can ignore the topic and then boast that the community is very important and they care about our opinion.
Could someone from Dice finally address this?
Can you at least pretend that our opinion counts?
- @andzian1920 Dice has in the past mention they will not bring server browser and as these are the official forums for Battlefield the others are just spam forums and we are the last to find anything out any updates. Even Dice/EA employees barely post here, but they do post alot on X and Reddit and other social media networks.
Dice/EA do not want to interact with their player base unless it is the fan boys would want a change as so by this long post here going on 2 years as barely any mention by Dice/EA in this area.
It all comes down to servers and money and Amazon runs cheap and low end gaming servers that even when I was renting servers for various BF games and even Quake servers would avoid renting from Amazon.
If they had stuck to what has worked in the past BF games (Server Browser/ Persistent servers with map rotation) and not try to please the COD and Apex player based (MM servers), this game probably would have been better. Also calling features that should have been in the game from the start legacy features, and the player base complaining and majority of the community abandoning the game shows Dice/EA do not know their community.
If Dice/EA will not bring back the server browser in 2042, then in the next BF game in 2025 the server browser has to be there or this game and franchise will be done. The beta for the next game will tell if people will be buying the game, as I assume there will not be a lot of presale until the beta is out or the main game is out as we were all taken for a ride in the previews for 2042 by the videos showing game play that was not even close to the game play. - @andzian1920
Yeah the last we heard from them was in August 2022 when they stated :
“One thing we wanted to help manage your expectations on is the requests we’ve tracked since launch to bring a server browser to All Out Warfare,” explained DICE Community Manager Tom Straatman. “Presently we have no plans to introduce a second Server Browser or modify the existing Portal Server Browser experience to include All Out Warfare.”
I think we can all agree that BF2042 has suffered severely as a result of opting for MM instead of the tried and tested SB / PS set up we had in all previous BF titles.
As I have said previously, imho BF2042 and any future BF will never be classed as a proper Battlefield game without a fully functioning Server Browser and Persistent Servers.
That is why I personally feel it is very important to keep this mega thread alive.
The BF Community cannot be rebuilt while MM remains and that is why I call on DICE to replace it for the good of the whole BF franchise going forward. - @RayD_O1 I fully agree that the lack of a server browser and persistent servers has been detrimental to the poor receipt of BF2042 with the OG BF community.
I have no more faith that they will ever fix it in AOW for the current title. The silence from the official channels on this subject has been deafening!
All we can do now is make it really clear we won't accept another installment in this franchise where a basic feature like this is absent. And we can do that by keeping our part of the discussion alive through this topic. And then only time will tell if they chose to ignore the elephant in the room again. I wonder if they really know how much damage MM is doing to the community. With MM it's impossible to enter a particular server with friends? It's counter to everything that is Battlefield!

We all want the BF franchise to survive / succeed and imho that can only be guaranteed if MM is replaced with a proper Server Browser and Persistent Servers.
Keep BF alive. Add a server browser.

The fact that BF2042 does not cater for Communities / Clans has been a massive backward step for the franchise.
By comparison the whole BF2042 gaming experience has been watered down compared to previous BF titles.
Imho the only way we can reverse the player decline is to replace MM asap and bring back the Server Browser and Persistent Servers that were the backbone of all the successful BF's in the past.

Have you noticed this in AOW matchmaking. ?
I have mostly been playing World Tour so not tried AOW Conquest since start of S7.
One of the main benefits of World Tour is the fact that once you are in a server you can play through the whole map rotation without being sent back to the lobby after every round. World Tour also has a one player start which saves all the hanging around in the lobby waiting for players. Once started it fills up pretty quickly with players replacing the AI bots.
Imho the sooner they bring a proper Server Browser and Persistent Servers to AOW the better to allow all players to have access in all regions.

It's worse because you now have players who only play Redacted but at the same time, there is a new map out.
If the next game doesn't have a Server Browser with persistent servers, I am done with this franchise. I am not wasting another minute of my life in queue waiting for players after ending a match with full teams. A sad state of affairs because this has been my main gaming franchise for the last 20 years.
There is a way to get a server browser - sort of:
Add a lot of friends,
Then when you check the list of who’s in the game, you can see which map they are playing, how many players that are on the server and if it’s Early game, Mid game or Late game.
Want to play Renewal? Check if any of your friends are playing on a server with that map and then join game.
It’s not the same as having a server browser but it’s still better than have matchmaking pick a random map, right? 🙂

While i can appreciate the merit in your method above, the randomness of MM means you could end up in the same map after being sent back to the MM lobby at the end of every round. ☹️
Imho the sooner they bring back a proper Server Browser / Persistent Servers the better, so we can take back control and get to play all the maps in rotation, just like in all previous BF's.

After their announcement that season 7 is the last I really have a fear that a SB/PS won't happen but if there are no Server Browser Persistent Servers in the next Battlefield, I will politely pass on it.

We need the server browser/persistent servers, map rotation, region picks, basically everything we had in the past and not SBMM or MM. Even let the community have our own servers and rent our own (not amazon servers) from whoever we want. Let the community have control of the game and not at the beckon call of the head honchos (EA) to decide what we want in a game. Bring back the community spirit of BF, build back the community of platoons/clans again. Have a community based testing area again were the community tests updates and fixes or new maps for bugs before released to the community as a whole (not the fan boys club though).
This game has destroy the very fiber of what it is to be a BF game and for this franchise to survive they need to go back to their roots and keep the head honchos (EA) out of the game and let the gamers and developers make the game.
