Add optional server region button please,Do you guys know how we Asian ps5 players play 2042? We use routers to install VPN,Connect to a European server，Make sure to turn off cross play and play normally.There is no such problem in Battlefield 1 and Battlefield 5，cause they can freely choose the server region.So it is better to add this button or add a server browser with this function!I speak poor English. @Echo6EchoDice loves the MM system. They can save on server-cost by running as few servers as possible, and make sure they are full. Scalability is very efficient this way.The MM-system gives Dice a chance of balancing the games (which was a huge problem in earlier titles), this is the only advantage for the players.If they had made a game that people wanted to play, the MM-system might have worked, but the game failed and now the remaining players pay the price for the MM-system.

@OldFriend-Wang Your translation is good enough. By using a VPN and playing from out of your region, it causes those servers to slow down. I live in the west coast of Canada, and in earlier Battlefield servers when we could see other players Ping, Asian players would have a ping between 200-300, playing against people with a 27-79 ping. It creates a hugely imbalanced server and isn’t fair as high ping players are compensated by the servers so gain an advantage over low ping players. It also slows the servers down making the game play laggy for everyone. While it’s cool to be able to play with fellow gamers from other regions, the effect of it makes games unplayable.

Why is it important for us to add optional server region buttons?
1.We don't want to play with PC players,It's unfair.
2.The closing of cross play by Asian players means that we cannot match enough players, and we have to find a way to connect to European servers.

I think the best option for us Asian players is to connect to European servers. To connect to European servers, using VPN also makes my latency higher, I took Battlefield 5 and did a test, without using VPN to connect to European servers, my ping was around 140ms, which is about 20ms or so lower than the latency with VPN, 140ms latency is a good playing experience for me. I don't know if the 140ms or so latency will make the game unfair, but if we can play on local servers, who will try to go to other regional servers to play, after all, sometimes higher network latency can make the game experience bad.

@OldFriend-Wang A latency of 140 is pretty high. The lower player base of 2042 makes finding games very hard, so I can understand your desire to just try and play. I’ve known some servers, when we used to be able to rent them, that would block pings that high as it lags the entire server down trying to accommodate the higher latency. With this game so poorly optimized and all the other issues it has, no wonder so many matches are laggy all over. I’m not pointing a finger at you or anything, it’s a Dice issue.

@ATFGunr You're right, I live in China and I play on the Japanese server with about 40ms-50ms latency. that's enough for me.
The root cause is still the stupid cross-play scheme of 2042, which diverts players. The ps5 players on the Asian servers had to wait a few minutes for the 1/128 interface and then had to choose to open crossplay or find a way to play on another server in another region. Because of the large number of people needed for a game, console players who turn off crossplay are never matched to console players who turn on crossplay, which is why I said this crossplay solution diverts players and causes the console community to crash. Having said that some may say that Battle Royale games are all matchmaking, I would say you are correct, Battle Royale games lend themselves to matchmaking because players who are eliminated from the opening game will continue to matchplay, which will make the game seem like there is no shortage of people.
The number of next gen consoles is much less compared to last gen consoles. dice has many ways to solve these problems, such as adding a server browser or allowing ps4 ps5 xbox1 xss xsx players to crossplay to play 64 player mode like APEX did. My friend and I enjoyed this week's 64-player game mode. bf3's map design is much more clever and logical than 2042's, which is great.

@Echo6Echo Cheating in online games is popular in Asian culture. They refer to it as 'helper software', not cheating.
@OldFriend-Wang DICE made an official statement saying they listened carefully to community feedback regarding server browser, matchmaking, persistent servers/lobbies, console only crossplay, and map rotation.
After giving our feedback careful consideration, they decided the answer is no for all our requests. DICE community managers have also tweeted that the majority of Battlefield players are enjoying the matchmaking experience in 2042. Which leads me to believe we'll see the exact same thing in the next Battlefield game too.

Nope, gotta disagree MM is an abomination and is a *-poor substitute for a functional server browser and persistent servers.
If it is about saving themselves money, they could just go back to letting people host their own servers and EA/Dice's server costs could be limited to "official" servers.
There was/is a reason BF4 is so popular to this day and a lot of that has to do with being able to host and admin your own server, run whatever maps/modes/restrictions (e.g. ping limitations) as well as banning players that are cheating or griefing other players.
Along with those perks is the ability to easily play with friends and favorite servers you like, something EA/Dice has apparently deemed not worth considering.
Leave matchmaking for other titles, provide a "quickhatch" button for players that like it but let the rest of us play with who/where/when we want.
