Aiming Input still feels like garbage on controller especially moving targets

It was bad during the beta, and its better now, but its still not where it needs to be. The aiming still feels janky and delayed, and its a lot worse on 128 player servers. Engaging with moving or strafing targets does not feel good. I went back and played both BFV and BF4 and its like night in day with regard to how it feels to aim.

Also, the aim assist bubble is still really weird. It feels like it sometimes pushes you off target. PC players also have the bugged mouse input, which is also a huge issue which still has not been addressed.

With the game releasing to PS plus there's going to be a massive influx of new controller players who are going to experience the janky/sticky aiming. None of my friends play anymore because of how it feels to aim in this game. We played hundreds of hours of all the previous Battlefield games. This is by far the biggest issue in the game and if fixed then player retention numbers could look a lot better.

Please DICE fix the Mouse/Controller input.

  • yeah I don't know why they don't fix this. Its such a massive problem yet nothing has been done to significantly fix the issue. I've given up playing until they can fix this

@Lancing975I don't think cods aim assist is that strong. I feel like it's pretty solid. It feels really good. Bf2042s aim assist is pointless. You are right. The aiming just feels so off especially compared to other bf title. Bf3 was my go to game for a long time. I was unbelievably good at that game. Granted I was much younger and my reflexes and aiming was incredibly good back then. Not as much now but in other games my aiming and reflexes are still good. But for some reason with bf2042, I feel like my skills are much worse than they should be. In bf3 I never had an issue with my aim. In that game where I wanted to shoot is where I was shooting 90% of the time. In bf2042, I find myself not shooting where I want to be shooting 90% of the time.

I’ve been saying that aim input with a controller has felt absolutely gross since launch. It feels much worse than any console BF game I’ve ever played.

I think what’s important to realize here is that this doesn’t seem to be an “aim assist” issue. It seems to be an aim-response curve issue where the rate of aim to joystick movement is completely out of whack.

This has been my NUMBER ONE issue with the game since launch and it ruins my enjoyment of the game every time I play it.

Yeah its by far the biggest issue with the game. I don't understand why dice wont fix it. It feels so janky to aim in this game

There's no settings that can fix the wonkiness. The aim response curve is off, hence the weird feeling when tracking targets.

@Lancing975 Happens for PC too, some rounds I’m shooting just to the side no matter how much I aim. Mouse input has been up and down, with some improvements but still off. Do controllers feel off when playing with crossplay off or only crossplay on?
  • its the same whether crossplay is on or off. Its so annoying I wish there was a fix.

  • I know this has been posted a long while. Anyway, my problem isn't Aim Assist. My main problem is the aiming input, mostly because it doesn't feel as responsive. Now, Linear input is good for that, but it also can screw you over because the Aim Assist doesn't work right for it, or you'll just completely over shoot a player. BFV, BF1 and the past games, aiming input was very responsive. This one, however, is not. And if you want to understand what I'm talking about, look up BF Clips. Most console players on there, you can see how slow their response time is. Anyway, that's the whole reason why I hate the game. To be honest, before Season 6 came around, the aiming input was smooth and much more responsive because the Aim Assist wasn't too strong. I think the only reason it's bad now, is because DICE decided to buff the Aim Assist, and giving us all the past Battlefield's input.

COD's aim assist only "works well" if you consider the game aiming for you a good thing.

In COD the AA will literally drag your crosshairs onto the target if your looking in an enemy's general direction when you hit the ADS button. I wouldn't want to see that happen in Battlefield.

Agreed.  This garbage started with Battlefield 3 and has been getting worse.  Unfortunately COD players infest every other shooter community and try to influence change in those games to being what they are used to.
