ALAT = Average Connected Player's Latency (ping) --->Why Lower Now???
Recently I've noticed the ALAT, which is the average connected player's latency (ping), is much lower now than a few weeks ago.
For example, my LAT (latency/ping) is around 40-50ms when connecting to all AOW servers, yet I'm seeing ALAT on AOW servers running from 30-70ms now, and in the past they ran between 80-160ms.
For portal servers ALAT runs 27ms to 60ms now, and in the past they ran between 40-150ms.
How has ALAT dropped so statistically significantly? Why has ALAT dropped? Anyone else noticed a massive decrease in ALAT???
Possible explanations for much lower ALAT:
1. Everyone's internet connection spontaneously got better...
2. Dice is limiting access of cross regional connections of players to more localized server zones...(My first guess)
3. Dice "tweaked" ALAT by taking a sample instead of an average, etc...
4. Player counts dropped and thus increased local players connecting to local servers...
5. Dice improved the net code which decreased connected players individual LAT and thus ALAT...(My second guess)
6. Perhaps I'm just confused and ALAT is not defined as average connected player's latency...
Can Dice comment, as even when I connect to a portal server in a non-regional area at 141ms, and there are only ten total players, somehow the ALAT is still running 37ms??? How???....as that does not seem mathematically possible as my 141ms should push the other 10 players to a higher average than 37ms as all nine other players mathematically have to all be running 25ms (or less) "LAN" latencies, which is unprobeable...
Whatever the changes recently, the net code has drastically improved for my online gameplay as I'm NOT experiencing the typical network issues discussed ad nauseam concerning online BF 2042 net code mechanics...so kudos for those updates and improvements Dice...
