I’m curious about a question that was asked on the battlefield dev corner video. Someone asked will we get all chat back so we can talk to the enemy team. I never really played much multiplayer on earlier battlefields but why would I need to talk to the enemy team I understand to say gg but if you wanted you can already send them that message privately if you wanted to I don’t get it I’m I missing something.

@mickey921 It seems to be an attempt to reduce the potentially toxic chat that can happen in game. I’ve played all of them since 1942, and they all had all chat abilities. Yes, sometimes you’d see chat that could be considered toxic, but there was also good stuff about a good shot, or good flying, or sharing info about an enemy hacking and their own team agrees. Basically they took it out as they didn’t think it could serve a purpose, and I think they’re wrong. Sure you’ll get the odd douchebag, but the majority of chat I saw over the last 20 years are gamers being gamers and having fun. Dice is wrong on this one, the good outweighs the bad.

I fully intend on using all chat for evil.

Removing the all text chat channel took the "soul" out of the game. It feels too sanitized now. Part of the experience was the back and forth with enemy team. It made it feel like a real experience against real humans. Now the enemy just feels like souless automatons. People with bad behavior in chat could always be muted or all chat hidden if you wanted.

All chat texts I'm behind, not so much mic all chat "Too many mouth breathers".

@EA_Mako That’s an interesting explanation / interpretation, thanks for sharing it with us. I hadn’t considered that’s how a rating would work.

@mickey921 Who has time to chat anyway? I'd say that's a pretty stupid request. I don't even talk to my own team because anyone you find with a mic is sending everything except actual communication. Nevermind trying to type with an on screen KB.

@ATFGunr Fair enough bro coming from single player games it was just I couldn’t really understand why that was needed. But I suppose It has a use. I know if it’s from ea it will be heavily censored I used to see a lot of people on Fifa asking why there name was censored because they had a dodgy name or something.

@mickey921 Ravic, music and likes of cope_more and Silk would be delighted to have all chat back. Infinite amount of laughs and content.

I've also missed being called a hacker in every 2nd game.

It would be amazing if it comes back

@ATFGunr Oh man, you are WAY off. Only a certain percentage of my games are online and those that do, well I put in my time. However the overwhemling majority, like 95%+, is crap like TV's and phones in the background, yelling, pets, hard breathing. Eating!

Considering a group of friends can use an external program if they must, I'm siding with the devs in that chat is less than necessary. I've left games where squeakers joined without a mute option.

@DPsx7 I could be wrong, I think the OP is talking about text chat in game, not open comms in VoIP. I do play with friends, first Ventrilo, then TeamSpeak, now Discord. I’d never turn on an open VoIP lol, I’m not crazy. I’ve heard Xbox chatter in Halo, no thanks brother. Too many kids, too many heros. But all text chat, well that’s just fun. Yes it’s heavily censored, and I’m ok with that, the stupidity level can be far too high. So to recap, all VoIP bad, all text good.
