Any reason Console players can't type in chat box waiting for game to start?

Any reason Console players (Xbox X/S here) can't type in chat box waiting for game to start at squad screen while we wait for players? Also... would it be possible to turn off chat box in options or ...

    If you are on PC, "H" key cycles thru chat options. Not sure what console is.

    I'm on PS5, how do I get rid of this annoying chat box. It only seems to serve PC players!!!
