Basically played 5 games last night, all from already started games 3 on the same map. is there any settings for only joining games not yet started? or any hints on getting a proper server rotation so we don't have to play the same map several times in a row?

That's the joys of MM I am afraid.
Gone are the days when we could join a server of our choice and stay on that server and play through the complete map rotation.

MM needs replacing by a proper Server Browser /Server System so we can choose how we play the game we paid for.

Sick of this same map over and over, Yesterday Kaleidoscope was MM'S Map of the Day !!!
I was put into it 4 or 5 times.
It gets stale very quickly this whole MM debacle doesn't it. ☹️

This is one of the bigger reasons people are quitting. Either Matchmaking takes forever to find a server, you join the same map 5-10 times in a row, or you join a nearly over game. Matchmaking is horrible, and it's been proven to be every time they've tried to implement it. These types of games REQUIRE a server browser, or at the minimum, a filter for matchmaking so it doesn't make you join the same stuff or nearly over games.
