I do like the gun gameplay of Battlefield 2042, but the map designs are just awful. The old maps are just to open, not enough buildings and to empty. The last two maps do almost have identical layout. The maps are also way to small for 128 and is more of a cluster f... then fun. Yes, sometimes we have 32 vs 32 matchmaking, but then they also gave a smaller version of the map, which doesn't fix the issue.
Battlefield 2042 new content is just lazy. The layouts of the new maps are almost identical.

- 3 years ago@Toonen1988 They have the same shape and that's where the similarity between both maps end.
They are completely different maps.- 3 years ago
I think it has huge dowsides.
C1 is bad, we get shot from everywhere, there is no cover.
There are too many lanes and hiding spots around the first flags on both sides. As recons now have beacons, they hide some too easily behind the last flags and back cap. The first flags should be narrow.
The 64 version of the map is empty. The 128 is fun, but a bit too full.
Maps designed either 64 or 128 do not work. Some tailoring IS required. In this map, as well as stranded and spearhead, perhaps it is just the case of removing the first flags on each side of the 64 players version to condensate players a bit more. But for this map, I don't, the 128 player version feels too full, so DICE got it wrong for all of them. - 3 years ago
@Tank2042ManTrue, but the shape contributes in how the map is being played. Let's me ask it in a different way, why would we want maps with the same shape all over again? Why can't we have a more larger map, flags scattered further away, maybe a "round" layout instead of the same layout over and over again.
Like I said, the layout contributes in how the map is being played. Why would they keep on using the same layout?
Tell me why they make such a small maps for 128 players, and if they bring out 64 players, they make the map smaller, which doesn't eliminate the problem. They want this game to be one big cluster f..., a new direction they are heading, which many gamers don't like. But EA isn't seeing it or they simply doesn't care about it. That's why they are using now the same layout, and don't increase the map sizes. Just to keep the cluster f... going.

I play no other maps than Flashpoint now - it’s by far the most fun map in the game for me.
But I’m playing the 64 player version (Xbox One BF2042) which I think makes a huge difference.
There is plenty of breathing room on the map with 64 players.
With 128 I can easily imagine the map would be totally chaotic and un-fun.
- ZRuff463 years agoRising Ace@Tank2042Man Honestly Spearhead and Flashpoint are too similar to me. They are both rocky maps with a few buildings you can go in. The underground area is one difference and I think the the rocky areas are a but higher on Flashpoint. I'd want a city or urban style map that has a bunch of buildings you can go inside. That's something different.

The capture points are too small, especially when there is only one. Terrible design in my opinion.
