However, mulitplayer COD has always felt more arcadey and Arena-Shooter-esque when compared to Battlefield. I think that is still the case.
However, as simply and safely as I can say it, after having played the Technical Playtest, I enjoyed the experience and I am hopeful for this game.

@simple89mhYou will find a lot of sympathy and similar sentiments on these forums...
I share a lot of your concerns, but I also have not found the things you mentioned to be too bothersome to me personally. However, there is also a distinct lack of gameplay and information to assuage your concerns, so most players here have really just been exasperated and frustrated at the lack of communication.
I think you will have more opportunity to judge and decide what you will do soon... IF there are no further delays...- 4 years ago
Haven't played CoD since World at War but it didn't feel like CoD to me at all.

@carsono311 I think the problem is that there has been a drift towards COD and away from the early BF games over the last few iterations. BFV introduced movement that was more COD than anything we have seen before, with the unlimited sliding glitch, no stamina penalties for sprinting and people leaping to Olympic record heights. They have already confirmed that BFV movement is coming to BF2042 (hopefully toned down).
Locking skills to individual specialists, means that you can never unlock them in game as previously, you have to buy the season pass or buy individual specialists at a premium price. Sounds very COD to me.
As someone who started BF with BF2142 and BF2, I have played them all (admittedly only Beta for Hardline) and definitely have not liked the trajectory the game is taking.
Still fingers crossed for what comes out, but the ability to sell skins and specialists feels like the main priority.

@Rusty RatI generally agree with everything you said.
I am hopeful for this game. I have seen and experienced enough of this game at this point to make me feel that way and I still believe the two series have more that uniquely defines them rather than their similarities.
However, I also think that some comparisons and gameplay elements between both series are inevitably going to align. I agree again that EA DICE need to draw their own line in the sand and commit to never crossing it. Unfortunately and as you mentioned, they seem more willing to follow the money over time rather than staying true to their proven design and improving upon it…To speak on the Specialists, EA DICE has been on record that they will be available to everyone that owns the game. This still makes me think they will need to be unlocked / “earned” first unless you buy a pricier edition of the game.

Speak for yourself. None of these things bother me and I have been playing this series for a very long time. Right now I am not getting "Call of Duty Vibes." Instead I would say it is the concerned that some of the same issues that were always there in large scale multiplayer will continue to be there in 2042 vibes that i am getting.
