I never really played COD as I don't enjoy that sort of gameplay but I did watch videos of the games. The latest gameplay definitely feels arcadey and COD/APEX-like with these silly specialists, no recoil, super fast movement, cartoonish graphics, high-pitched character voices etc..
I will judge it with the beta. If the beta confirms what I perceive the game to be based on the released gameplay, then I won't buy it. It will be a shame if that is the case, as BF is pretty much the only multiplayer game that I like to play.
I've had a couple of minor issues with the new COD beta, but I have largely enjoyed it, because I like CQB (close-quarter battles) games. It does currently leave a little to be desired, graphics-wise, but the gameplay is pretty smooth. I'm surprised by the graphics, because the last Sledgehammer game was beautiful. Since this is a beta test, I'm sure things will look much better with the final release.
Personally, I don't see why there is such hatred between the two camps. Why can't someone like both? The games cater to two different types of players, but there is a lot of crossover between the two groups, believe it or not. And I'm one of them.
I like them both--most of the time. I just don't like Fortnite-looking nonsense.

@ChugKendallI never touched any CoD, I always heard how arcadey and dumb it was from most people, especially older games. Back then it meant that CoD folks were something like low-intelligence mindless gameplay type of folks, reflecting of their personality. (in contrast to 'highly intellectual' bf gameplay back then) Something like wide over deep, maybe in the sense of extra(or o)/intro-version. Majority of folks are not 'introvertish' like myself, so going after majority, is going for the surface-level depth, spectacle, and for making emotions. Group over the individual.

I love how you stereotype about 6 million people as being low-intelligence and mindless--myself included, I guess--even though you have zero first-hand knowledge of those games. Once you actually give CoD a try, then we can have an informed conversation about it.
I've played every CoD, since the very beginning. Some were great (original MW2, WWII), and some were terrible (BO3)--just like some of the BF games (Hardline, for starters). It isn't that one franchise is so much better than the other; it just comes down to personal preference and playstyle.
