I'm a long time gamer myself. ....let's just say I'm past the half century mark. 😉
Personally, I don't miss it but then again, I've never saw the allure of trash talking others. I play games for fun and friendly competition. What I have found is that it is mostly those who trash talk that are taking the game and themselves much too seriously. I'd rather move on to a new game and use the report feature (if available) if I think someone is hacking, cheating, taking advantage of exploits, etc. ....camping doesn't bother me. I have never seen a situation where calling someone out has ever really made a difference other than getting them kicked out from the session if that's an option.
What I do hate is that they didn't include voice comms in the game upon release. All indicators were pointing to an implementation shortly after launch but that hasn't materialized. I use PS party chat with my friends so in-game comms are not as important to me but they are huge part of these types fo games for a lot of people. I also like to listen in (in games where it's possible while in party chat) to find those who seem to want to play as a team. We will gravitate towards those people more and lend support. In games like Insurgency Sandstorm, we've even broken party chat when we notice people on our team are actually communicating.
Anyhow, I hope that they at least get voice comms going in this game. .....as that, IMO, is more important than global chat for the sake of ribbing the other team, giving kudos, etc.

@Kean_1111I think you misunderstood me. "trash talk" can still be friendly in a way. Im not talking about calling people a C*** or Fa*. But just in general i miss it. I mean also saying GG or whatever. YOu cant "shake hands" after. It just feels sorta empty to me without it.I didn't misunderstand you. It's just been my experience that "trash talk" among strangers in MP games isn't usually just friendly ribbing. I find that those who do it tend to mean it more often than not and then go into passive-aggressive mode when called on it. ....e.g. "can't you take a joke", "no need to get triggered", etc., etc. proximity chat,
In either case, I'm just saying I find little to no use in global chat. ....in-game voice comms with your team on the other hand is a different story.
Personally, I think the comms in Hell Let Loose are a great example of a really good system. You can choose to talk to just your squad or your team through proximity chat, etc. More importantly, you can do all this while using something like PS party chat with your friends through the press of a button.
