Idk if it's because all the base maps were just so big there wasn't a lot going on with them. Doesn't look like a ton of effort went into them even though the reworks did help. i don't think a rework can fix a map that was designed without Inspiration. Orbital is the best base map IMO and you can tell there's a lot going on there with the shuttle and the environment looks fantastic. The rest of them just no where close. I would rather not see any of the other base game maps in another game. I'm tired of seeing all these damn ships that have no water around them. The expansion maps all look better and follow a "Theme" but theres too few of them. Flash Point was originally a "test map." Exposure is easily the best map in the game. Where's the close quarters maps? Life injected into Portal? Water maps, Maps that are reminants of an earthquake? Past BF games did this why can't BF2042?

I think it's sad that everything around the Battlefield franchise nowadays is focused on bringing in more money for EA.Money, money, money.- Game released too early because EA's executives focus way too much on the short term and on how to increase revenue there.- Game has Specialist because EA's executives have spreadsheets that say it's a good idea so they can sell as much cosmetic items as possible.- Game has no Server browser because EA's executives have surveys that show player retention can be increased via SBMM and that other term I forgot what is (which is not possible if people can freely pick which server they want to play on) - and increased player retention equals more cosmetic items sold etc.etc.etc.

I don’t think so. 10 years from now will I remember “Renewal” or “Kaleidoscope” hell no!Do I remember Damavand Peak, Seine Crossing, Operation metro? You bet I do! They all had parts that you remember and had so much fun playing on. Other than possibly orbital I won’t remember any of these base maps.

@WedgeTornado No, I think the default maps are the most diverse and interesting launch maps possibly in the franchises history.

The reworks were needed to create more focused objectives on the 128 maps, add much needed cover and remove unnecessary dead space, but the maps themselves I find very appealing.

Whether they play well is completely subjective.

@WedgeTornado I didn't see anything wrong with them. Maybe some bare areas that gave you no reason to visit (the midfield of Orbital or the sandy chunks in desert maps). The only question I'd have is are you whining about the full size (next gen) maps, or the smaller ones on previous gen? I was playing the PS4 version at the time. They were fine.

@DPsx7 I spent my first 150 hours or so on Xbox One playing the 64 player conquest maps and they were indeed fine to play on especially after they nerfed the Boltes rampaging everywhere.

@WedgeTornado I actually think BF4 had the most uninspired launch maps in the series along with BF2.

As much as I loved playing BF4 the maps were very dull to look at for the most part.

BTW I'm referring to the base game maps not the Season's maps. I do like all the Season's maps and could see them in other games, Exposure's my favorite. I like Flashpoint too actually!

I spent most of my time playing the free DLC pack that came out soon after launch featuring Firestorm, Caspian, Oman and Metro.

@Tank2042Man I agree some of the BF4 base maps kinda looked the same with Zavod, and Golmud, Giants. But Floodzone, Paracel Storm and Locker were fire!
IMO those maps were all better than 2042 base maps and we got 10 instead of 7...
