I don't know if those are being used but I don't think it has changed my own BF experience.

What’s your definition of rampant? How many people are actually using these devices? It’s hard to say without any actual statistics.
You’re probably right, but you can’t exactly assume anything either.

There's no question there are modded controllers, how many who's to say. Are they a negative factor in the game I would say yes. But from playing the game I rarely see macros in use, I do see a lot of Hitreg issues more, I think.
Until the issues with the code is fixed it's hard to say.

How often are you seeing console players perform drop shots?
I think the answer to that question will give you an indicator of how rampant this problem is.

Sorry @Adamonic, you and all who thinks what you wrote here needs to be corrected, as it is not correct.
Happy as well to invite the knowledgeable EA folks on, as we have had this review before, where EA/DICE also confirmed and the facts remain:
M&K players using scripts for 'enhanced gameplay' is not allowed by the SLA/Code of Conduct from EA to play the Battlefield game. Same goes for modded controllers used by Console gamers/PC gamers.
And yes, they are actually detectable, no matter what their producing/selling companies tries to imply to you in their marketing when trying to sell their cheaterware. Same with their wording is cringy when trying to implore its not cheating, its only to 'enhance' your gameplay. Also reason why aka SONY upped the ante by now in PS5 having a serialized controller device on which you also need an operating system to run for version/function control that is controlled by SONY and is regularly updated.
And yes, it is actually detectable for the console apps to check what hardware components that are connected and used for the controls. The big question and outstanding issue is however if the game developers themselves have an interest in and sees it positive for them to enforce a given user-end controls portfolio or not... So yes they can. Question is, do they want to...
Its a never ending cat versus mouse game, where new exploits are coming out all the time and the game devs and platform owners needs to follow up and keep them out. This takes efforts, costs money and some are more committed to this than others. It is however a poor sad place to be if our FPS online gaming world goes towards its the ones with the latest and greatest cheats that wins the match, and not the best game skills, w collaboration and strategy that wins the day...
A couple of FPS games have come out to consoles where aka M&K was deliberately blocked from working for their inputs, which again is testimony to where there is a will, there is a way to succeed with it. We are many millions of online gamers now these days that are totally fed up with cheaters and we do leave if such is allowed to go rampant and ruin the fun of gaming on an equal fair playing field.
- @CyberDyme Then the anticheat is doing a pretty crappy job because there are a ton of videos all over the place using these things.
It would be amazing if they were all caught and detected, but based on the dates of these videos, with recent gameplay footage, these controller "gamepacks" are alive and well.
If you watch any of the videos, that is exactly how I feel on the other end of those shots. I am lasered all the time, console players with very low ranks but at the top of the leaderboard in kills.
OP asked if they were rampant. I don't think they are, but that's my opinion, but they are definitely in use right now in the game.

I find it far more likely that sony is going the apple route of apple of controlling something you bought.
You must use it in a way that they want you to. Also,
I dont believe for a second that what you described is for fair play. I believe that is absolutely coming from a desire to control the end user and it is some way tied into selling your biometric data (i suggest digging in your TOS if you don't think they do that 😉)

With regards to their usage, then from BF4 where we have a good monitoring function through Spectator Mode, we have a decent insight into how many of the players are abusing such controllers. In many of our 64-player games you have no such abusers at all, and we aso see a very level playing field. Great players and poor players on both team sides, but none really standing out like crazy in their moves or scores. But we do then also see maybe 1-3 players that suddenly joins with all the bells and whistles of the latest macro-cheats enabled.
Across many game rounds, I would probably estimate this number to be around 4-6 players out of every 1,000 or so. Could be more, as not all who uses them, gets to understand how to use them well. :o) You will see these days that several community-run BF4 servers (on PS4/PS5) also indicate in their descriptions that they kick/ban m&k and/or modded controller users. If you know what to look out for, then they are actually quite easy to identify.
On the EA/DICE side they could also if they wanted, setup a monitoring of the "user input sequencing" on the servers. And here such cheats are coming through load and clear. The PC gamers knows more about this, but think that the PunkBuster system also used some of those components to ID cheaters on the PC version of prior BF games. (no need to debate if it worked well or not. If any got banned for good reason or not)
- @2c5e591fbf8739d8 Honestly man it’s not just modded controllers. I logged in for the first time in 6 months, and died 103 times to the same guy and quit the game. Wouldn’t you know it a week later same thing to the same guy even. I’m uninstalling this game and apex EA has ruined most fps games for me.
There definitely is something going on, or "combinations" of something going on, players jumping around like fleas and you get one shotted after you peppered your opponent with bullets. 99% of the time I stick it out to the end of the match, just to see the stats and who's who.
Whatever the case may be there is something going on, I have looked at modded controllers just to even the playing field, but I just can't bring myself to do it. Would I mod a controller to get better trigger contact or better positive engagement with the fire button, sure, but it would make the "engine" run smoother but it won't turn me into a flying hover car now would it.
I am resigned to focusing on squad placement and not KD ratios, after all it's about teamwork, as fun as 94 kills in 15 minutes, 6.26666667 kills per minute would be.
That's an algorithm that should be run, kill ratio per minute, would give anyone a good idea of what's going on.
Something is definitely going on and the dev's should jump in here to level with the customers and the factors involved and what their seeing, the conversation should leave the customer informed and not asking more questions.
peace...
