    I'm going to have to go a hard NO on this one also.

    @DK99LY Battlefield 2042s attempt at a Royal mode is Hazard Zone.
    The whole game was originally around it. But that is not what people expect, when they expect a Battlefield game.
    I don't need another BR game to avoid.

    @kregora Hazard Zone was their take on the extraction genre that's gaining traction. Good idea, implemented half baked. They obviously changed directions at some point in development and decided to try to go the more classic route of the franchise. Which is what they should've done from the beginning. I'm down for them doing the extraction shooter, but it's not a tagged on mode. You have to build it from scratch to pull it off.

    Battlefield just isn't a BR type game. I don't think it's the right audience for it either. I want the game to either move in a "Planet Side" type direction or have both the standard Conquest with an Extraction type mode, like Hazard Zone. The problem is when they try something new, they bail pretty early on. It's not a bad idea, but it's not just a mode tagged on, you're building an entire game parallel to the main game essentially.

    Conquest is fun, but without any sort of persistence or long term goals I get burned out pretty quick every time I come back to it. Challenges are cheap and surface level content. I'm looking for something more and deeper than that in a game these days.

    @RaginSam For me BF2042s only acceptable mode is Breakthrough. The maps - even after the rework - just don't work for conquest. At least for me.

    @kregora That's fair, but I disagree.

    I've always felt like Battlefield worked best in conquest. It just made the most sense to me and gave room for different play styles.

    Breakthrough and Rush just feel like a meat grinder that you have to play in very specific, chaotic way.

    I think the spawning systems in BF2042 are just terrible. They need to clean that up quite a bit in my opinion. Less spawn points in general. That's my biggest issue with Conquest currently.

    EA keeps talking about a BF-universe and narratives.

    They have 3 studios working on "next BF". This could mean they make a BR along a normal BF, just like COD does and they already tried with BFV.

    As long as we can still play "normal" BF, I don't care if they make a BR game. We can all theorize about wasting development resources, balancing for BR etc etc, but if they really have 3 studios working on the next game that shouldn't be a problem.
