Smoke doesn't stop vehicles the simply spam it with rocket fire negating it's use.

Many people don't play the objective, that playstyle needs to be built into the game at the beginning. This Battle Royal style of gameplay does not translate well into PTO. They have released classes now which help with PTO but you still see to many playing outside the objective farming kills.

So my answer is no it is still a camp fest of a game.
