remember after chapter 4 in BFV they promised the same thing and to listen to the community, yet they went and changed the TTK another two times against the wish of basically all players in thr forums, in fact i am sure not a single person asked for another entire blank TTK redo...Yep agreed @X-Sunslayer-X ,
Talk is cheap!
And from the EA/DICE marketing BS machine we got plenty of that in recent months, up until launch of the final product.
And it was evident to all what a terrible poor shape and mess it was in.
And nowhere near to be able to offer a gaming experience it was all hyped up to give us.
This is basically my stance with Live Service in general. The instant a company announces a "live service" game, you can expect that to mean "early access" and at least a year before it will resemble a complete game. And in the case of EA, they don't even follow through. They cut Battlefront 2 after 2 years and BFV after a year and a half. So basically, they are saying "live service" but sticking to the same delivery cadence as Premium Pass...just with maybe half the content.
So why get this game? The 128 players and Portal, neither of which have panned out well. But I also didn't go in expecting long term play. I was fine if a month or two was all I got with all the games on the way this year.
As for sticking around for this new direction? No thanks. I think Battlefield's best days are behind it, and other things will be coming out. We are at the dawn of a new console generation. Who knows what we will be getting or what new direction games will take.by the time they get the next Battlefield out.
At the same time, I won't say never. Maybe it falls into a neat window like this one did. Or maybe I just wait 6 months to a year like I have done COD in the past when I got tired of it.
- @Stew360 I hope you are right. My bold prediction was that they will add Titan mode and connections to 2142 with a year one rebrand. But I have a feeling that's wishing for too much.
If they indeed to this, I'll be there for sure. - CountSero4 years agoSeasoned Ace
I'm too lazy to write it again so i make a copy and paste what i have written in another thread (imho it fits here again):
So, you are trusting somebody who is with EA around 3-4 months now?
His last Studio V1 Interactive which was founded somewhat between 2012\2014 and had released their first game Disintegration last year and this studio was closed in march of this year.
And if I remember right, they removed the Multiplayer part of the game less than a year after release and I don’t thing that there will be more content or patches released after clsoing the studio So yeah, that is catering a community….
His experience with Shooter was with Bungie till Hallo Reach? Maybe had some hands-on parts of Destiny I don’t know.
Yes, these games were good but now I use your logic again man you’re trusting someone who has no experience in games like Battlefield?
The games have issues and bugs but it is fare from broken or unplayable that your personal perception.
So it seem to me more, if I like the game and bring facts that is defending EA/DICE and be more unwelcome here. If I jump on the hate train bandwagon I can stay?
I accept if you say you don’t like the game it doesn’t fulfil your expectation or preferences.
But if you complaining the game is broken and is beyond playable than bring reasonable facts not only a two liner.
I also love the franchise but maybe I’m more open to new things and playstyles.
So Happy New Year To you and all the best for 2022.
See you on the Battlefield

New faces coming in will not change the course of 2042.
It's course is set in stone there is no magic wand.
As it is already is classed as a failure and now future monies to be invested will now be spent elsewhere.
Will be free to play option in March when first season pass is released.
I have uninstalled the game will come back for a laugh in march when first real update is out.
That's if they have the skills to do such a update without messing up other ingame mechanics.

I'm looking forward to a change in direction.
To be honest, all of the matches i played during the weekend had 50% bots in them. The matches felt off, weird and lame. the AI is beyond stupid. But there were less people playing. And im on the west coast which usually always has a few full servers (in the past games).
I dont know what Dice has planned but if I were them, I'd focus on things most people want to see right now and get content ready when its ready.
Adding a server browser, scoreboard, voice chat, global chat, general tweaks and making the current 64 modes permanent, would not take them a week to implement. Portal already has a server browser and if you like match making maybe an option so you get to choose. Next, when you go to your left bottom during a match, there is already a half finished scoreboard. So adding stats and a bind to tab really cannot be so hard to implement. while im at it: remove pre match cinematics and post match one liners.
All of these things, they should do right now. And im not even talking content. Stop with the nonsense videos like how to play breakthrough - the game already includes a tutorial. Why are they wasting their time with this stuff?
So this next patch would be a good thing showing to the community that they are listing. Next up, they need to release season 1 with a bang. 1 map wont cut it. Add a ton of new skins, mostly headgear so we dont have to see the stupid faces, add a different color scheme to RU and maybe 3-5 new weapons.
Maybe they will do that, we dont know, but in my opinion, anything less and the game is done.

@CyberDymeHow do we know there's 10,000?
I've been struggling to work out how large the player base is with only Steam to go off.
I was about to pick a PS5 copy up for £30, which I think is a fair price for the game.
But if it's tanking even harder than I thought then I'll hold out and see if I can get a bargain.I wonder the same thing - where do they pull these player numbers from. I intentionally bought it from Origin because I prefer it over Steam. So I am not included in the Steam numbers. I play on PC on 64 player mode and TDM portal. I have yet to not be able to get in a game. Usually takes less than a minute to join a match. I do have cross play turned on. They can't base it solely on Steam. I'm quite certain I am not the only one that purchased it on Origin (which gets you around having to link your Steam account to Origin and cuts out the Steam middle man).

Xbox provides some insight into the game's popularity. BF2042 ranked #16 on Xbox when it first released. Now if ranks #36 one month later.

My post from a month ago when BF2042 ranked #16 on Xbox.

But if it's tanking even harder than I thought then I'll hold out and see if I can get a bargain. He's making the mistake of assuming that the Steam base is the entire player base. Only EA/DICE know how many PC installs are through Origin and how many players are playing on Playstation and Xbox editions of the game
If we assume that the proportions of Steam players (not absolute numbers) are broadly reflective of the engagement trends across all platforms, then the title of the video and the thread where the numbers are repeated and the thesis - that 2042 has lost over 90% of its playerbase - is false in the most basic way: It gets simple facts wrong. Arguably, the mistake -- taking all-time low player count and suggesting that this is a permanent loss of player-base -- is so egregious that I wonder if it's not deliberate. No one can really be that stupid, can they? I'll let you and everyone else be the judge of that.
Comparing like-for-like, the Steam charts show a net loss of about 64% percent of peak concurrent players over the all-time peak (as of time of writing), which is by no means good, but not the gaming apocalypse implied by the thread and video title. This is because the charts do not show, for instance, length of engagement or unique logins. Take the interpretation of the Steam figures in the video with a large pinch of "that particular 'content creator' is innumerate."
The video is a great example of why no one should get their news from YouTube without checking it. It is disappointing that this claim has since been repeated as "the truth" and has been repeated without even a scintilla of rational thinking, such as, you know, checking the numbers that form the premise of the claims made.
With regard to the matchmaking times, I wonder how much time people consider too long to wait for a match, and at what times. During afternoons and evenings on PC in the UK, the matchmaking takes less than ten seconds for me. There may be issues with the matchmaking on the consoles, however, so I can't speak to that.
