I think that EA have intentions to make the Manifest map the designated meatgrinder map for infantry players in BF2042...
But for us the classic BF lovers, suggest that EA just give us a double-decker whammy map of the classic Operation Locker or Operation Metro in the Portal and I think we would be done! 👍
Double layered maps of these classics would enable quick map development by the EA design team and it would give us the alternative flanking routes that we need to make the maps work with the double of players vs old 64-player versions and braking up the otherwise very linear gameplay direction.
Aka Locker already had flanking routes via the outside snow covered area and also two levels of passage ways. Metro less so, as around the B flag offered limited flanking pathways, as all pathways led up to the same singular and intense cluster F*** area...
But still both maps were fun for that specific purpose and still these days attract a lot of players.

@CyberDymeI agree on the classic maps being reworked for Portal, or even as-is, though for some of them that would be absolutely mental. How about the old Metro map, but with 128 players?
Getting grenade kills on that would be like fishing with dynamite. 🤣
(though fully agree, not practical playable or fun for long)

I don't know how many times I have played Metro or Locker and it is mayhem at the choke points, and no one cares to cover the flanks.
Some matches you can literally sip on a piñja colada while you stroll over to cap the enemy flags or hit them from the back. Frenzy.
But yeah, it would be fun to play them once or twice with 128 players just to experience it.
