Battlefield 2042 recoil

Idk what's wrong with this game, but only a hand full of guns are even remotely usable. Recoil so * bad it's uncontrollable for 90% of the guns. I feel like I'm forced to use like 2 guns to kill anything on pc. Second m&k first person shooter I've played, so I'm not like amazing. This is honesty straight up. Cold war I had a 2.40 ratio when I quit playing. Bf2042 assualt rifles are mostly garbage but 2 rm68 and ak-24. Smgs forget it I don't even try. Lmgs a joke wrapped in garbage. Avancys I only use in single fire mode and that's the only gun I can kill with. Overwheingly negative in every match with anything other than rm68 ak42 avancys dxr1 and svk. Pc recoil is nuts can't keep the cross hair on anyone. Literally negative every match because of it. I've put in about 200 hours into the game so far 0 improvement whoever decided pc needed 30% more recoil must've seen a bunch of no recoil esp hackers playing cause this game is unplayable for me. I want to level guns up try new *, but it feels like I'm forced to play meta * or quit out of frustration

  • @Legion1NovaIf you’ve got 200 hours in and haven’t found your mojo I’m not sure what advice to give. The recoil as I understand it isn’t 30% more, it’s that consoles get 30% less. Small arms aren’t intended to just hold a trigger down and run around like it’s a fire hose. Im sure you tried steady bursts etc? Part of it is also the hit reg is poor, desync and a bunch of server side issues that make you think you’re inaccurate but the game is correcting you to shoot behind where you want to be.

@Legion1Nova Try to adjust your attachments, muzzle breaks, etc., maybe you are also using scopes with more zoom than needed (then the perceived recoil feels much bigger than it actually is). You can also try M416 (a vault weapon) - it's a solid average assault rifle with very low recoil.

The recoil in 2042 is pretty easy to control with enough 'training'. I haven't played COD and cannot compare, but in older BF-titles the weapons were even harder to use (in general).

It takes some practice (especially if you are new to M&K), but if you keep up you will improve and at some point not even think about it anymore.

You could look at your mouse-sensitivity, if its too high it can make things even harder (aiming and recoil-control). Just remember tinkering with mouse sensitivity, can take some time to get used to.

  • You actually haven't had any good advice in this thread, but I'll give you some.

Yes, you are correct.. There IS plenty of recoil.

If you want less, increase your FOV.

You'll hear such terms as 'visual recoil', but in fact it's 'ACTUAL' recoil.

There are reasons to why you would choose either of these but try above(In relation to your post) and come back here with an update.

I'd just like to clarify that in my last post I said that there was no 'good' advice in the thread, but of course there was plenty and it's all valid.

I didn't actually mean it that way and just reading back there that's what it looked like!

I just meant that increasing your FOV will instantly give you less recoil, and that wasn't mentioned.

I think a lot of players that will start these kinds of threads are using a low FOV but nobody actually ever mentions this to them.

There is certainly recoil at a lower FOV, especially on some guns.

Personally I use a lower FOV and this is because I like to see as much into the distance as possible.

But this has a drawback in that it makes the gun play much more reactionary, as the recoil is more pronounced, and also the player models move a lot faster.

It just comes down to whatever suits your play style and whatever you're comfortable with, you just need to play around for a while and then settle on something.

So try everything said in this thread, but start with increasing your FOV incrementally and just see what you like.

    Good luck on your quest!

  • @Legion1Nova Try increasing Field of View in the settings. The higher you put it, the less noticable recoil will be, but it will make enemies appear farther away. Somewhere around 75+/- seems good for me. You'll just have to see which works for you.
