Battlefield Briefing: Launch Update & The Road Ahead Response

@Straatford87 in Battlefield Briefing: Launch Update & The Road Ahead, you clearly mentioned Server Browser as something you were evaluating and would have plenty to say around them, but have not mentioned Server Browser since launch and the biggest threads in this forum are directly related to SB and MM.

Of all the things you can add to the game, this one is the most important and would bring a lot of players back. I can't tell you how frustrating it is to be recycled back into an MM queue after every round. I just want to pick the server (region, map, mode, etc), and be able to play with friends or random PUGs who I later add as friends after our squad stays intact after the round ends (this builds the community). I also like to know the map rotation or lack thereof. There is already a Server Browser in Portal, so I don't understand the reasoning behind not adding one to AOW (or merging the two and having tabs for AOW and Portal).

This is what was stated back in November upon launch:

"We also want to give you the assurance that we’re carefully evaluating your desire to see legacy features return. End-of-match Scoreboard, Server Browser, and features like Voice Chat are big topics for us to cover all at once, and we have plenty we want to say around them. We’ll come back to you when we have things that we can show to you, including details about our long-term vision for certain features and functions."

All I want to know is that Server Browser is on the radar and will be added at some point or not. If it is, it gives me hope, if not, then I can use my valuable gaming time elsewhere; but keeping us in the dark on a topic that you mentioned seems out of character for you. So to make it easy, all you have to do is reply "Y" if it is on the table, or "N" if it is not.

Thanks in advance.

What else we getting in Portal with the new update?

  • @Adamonic We deserve a straight answer from EA. We’ve played and loved BF games longer than most of their employees, we have more invested in it than they do at this point, and damn it we deserve to be treated with respect and be told the truth. The truth is they will not invest in their game or in us as players, persistent servers have a cost attached and they’re not going to pay it.

Totally agree with those sentiments, BF2042 is a real shock to the system to true Battlefield fans.

BF2042 bears little resemblance to earlier titles and lacks so much of what made BF great.

And not adding a Server Browser / Persistent Servers may well be a cost saving exercise but imho it will prove to be a very costly mistake as future sales will plummet because of BF2042's failures.

  • @Adamonic They refuse to comment on a server browser because they know it makes no sense to not have one

Think about it, why wouldn’t there be a browser? There’s no reason not to have one

They just don’t wanna pay for it. So they are trying to pretend like our request for it doesn’t exist

    Pathetic

Correct, there is no logical reason on this earth for a BF multiplayer game to launch without a server browser / persistent servers,

You say they don't want to pay for it but they will in the long run due to loss of future sales resulting from BF2042's failure,
