Before I go off. I want to set the president that I absolutely LOVE Battlefield games and I've been playing them ever since BF3 (which is my favorite game in the franchise). I see the potential in 2042 still and I want it to try and help to help as much as i can to try and get it to where it should've been at launch.
Question 1: Discarded (spawning on either team), Hourglass (spawning on either team), Manifest (Not as bad but still spawning on either team), Kaleidoscope (spawning on either team but mainly the US side with 0 cover to the B flags), Orbital (Mainly spawning on RU side), Breakaway, (Mainly US side past the F flags on the giant ice sheet), Renewal (Spawning on either team. 0 cover between the RU spawn and D flags. Easy spawn trap location if in an all cap scenario)
Question 2: Renewal (because of spawn trapping at D flag when on RU team), Hourglass ( Because there is absolutely 0 cover anywhere on the map for aircraft to lessen the changes of getting shot down immediately by AA. Also no cover for infantry when spawning on both sides until you cap the nearest flag.) Breakaway (for the same reasons as Hourglass.)
Question 3: The balance between infantry and vehicles isn't the worst in breakthrough specifically.
Question 4: Yes i have and it defiantly feels better because there is room to move around and flank the enemy without having 20 other blueberries follow you.
Question 5: Flags C, D, A2, and A3 on Breakaway. Almost every flag on Kaleidoscope. A flag on Discarded. D, B, A3, and C flag on Hourglass, B, C and E flag on Renewal.
Question 6: This is the Big one... *takes a deep breath*.
The thing all of these maps are missing Lanes and areas with opportunities for compartmentalized firefights within flag areas and cap zones. It is impossible for me to shoot at anyone while on an outdoor flag without getting sniped in the mouth from a dude 800m away on a crane or hill. Normally I don't have an issue with this is because i want people to be able to snipe if they want too but it happens wayyy to often to the point where its a flaw in map design. There are glimpses of greatness like on the B flags on manifest and the Jungle that surrounds them, the D and C flags along with B2 on Discarded, The B flags on Breakaway, and the D flags on Renewal. Now on to map specifics.
Hourglass - has absolutely 0 cover on most of the map. The area encircling C flag is completely baren and impossible to traverse for infantry unless you fly from E2 with a wingsuit. The empty space between B, D and C needs work. The only cover is the long hallways along the sides of the small valleys between the sand dunes. and not to mention that those hallways can be completely destroyed to create 0 cover. The destructibility isn't the biggest issue. It's that there is no other cover anywhere in that area. It is especially bad when you are being engaged by an aircraft. You stick out like a fly on white rice when you are traversing a sand dune making it incredibly easy to spot for helis , tanks, and jets. and this issue persists throughout the entire map. I understand the concept of the map that's its over run with sand and in real life it would look like how Hourglass looks currently, But it doesn't work in a FPS game. Leave some places open but fill the rest with more ruins, tents, or add more skyscrapers onto the E flag side of the map. Also add something in the courtyard on D Flag or increase the cap area. There is no where to hide to take cover from snipers, tanks, or aircraft.
Breakaway - I love the size and scale of this map. But there is no cover anywhere when moving from flag to flag on foot. It is a snipers paradise. From the ice sheets between A and D, to the Glacier on the F flags. There is nowhere to take cover from aircraft or snipers. And for gods sake add something between A1 and E flag. Make E flag a bigger mountain with a big facility on top and make players have to base-jump off the helipad like on Damavand Peak in BF3. Also add a town, research facility, or even an airstrip in the massive empty space between A1 and E. Get rid of D flag and add a crashed battleship stuck in the ice and of fire. Add basement levels and tunnels underneath A1 and A2. This map has so much potential.
Kaleidoscope - Oof this map. For a game that is supposed to be set in a dystopian future where the world has collapsed and the environment has taken over, This map looks untouched by anything including humans. Everything is pristine and perfect. Add garbage everywhere, crashed C130's and rubble from toppled skyscrapers. Again there is no cover anywhere. Epically on B1, B2, C, E1,E2, and G.
Renewal - Honestly this feels like a K Mart version of Caspian Border from BF4 in 2014. Not to say that i hate the map in any way. I think the concept is pretty sweet with having one side of the map a barren wasteland and the other a lush, modern environment. Again, there needs to be more cover on the fields separating C and D flags. Make futuristic elevated walkways over the fields connecting to different buildings. there is also no cover for Aircraft anywhere. Add hills or mountains on the D side of the map as well. B flag however is a different story. There is no cover anywhere between C and B. make B flag a "Operation Firestorm" Oil type facility. and add Tents and makeshift shanty towns in the empty space between C and B. Also add more buildings to both A flags.
Manifest - This is my favorite map. I don't have many complaints except for the fact that both B flags feel isolated from the rest of the map. The map flows well and the containment within each flag feels more right than all the other maps.
Discarded - I like this map as well overall. The cover and destruction on B2 is great and i love engaging the enemy there. Also the cargo ship is a great place to battle over. However there needs to be something in the empty space Between the B flags, and A. And there needs to be more buildings everywhere. There is a reason why i love fighting over B2.
Orbital - This map is fun but feels super spread out. The spawns on both sides are so far apart from any objective and it takes forever to run there. also add more distroyed veichiles everywhere, especially on the rocket runway. It is a no mans land to cross,
EVERY MAP NEEDS MORE COVER FOR NOT JUST INFANTRY BUT ALSO AIRCRAFT. It is too easy to blast things out if the sky.
Please make the maps feel like we are in the dystopian future that the game is supposed to be set in. Everything is too clean and for gods sake get rid of the cheesy voice quips at the end of each round. Those again do not fit the vibe of the game that was advertised.
Also if tornados are going to stay in the game, make them have a path of destruction that they leave on the map. This would also add more cover across all the maps. After the tornado leaves the map, it looks like nothing happened.
I say all of this for the love of this game and how i know it can be better. I am not a developer in any way shape or form. jus ta guy who loves Battlefield.
