Suggestions for CQ Renewal: Add more flags (see image)
Annotated Renewal Layout Idea
Renewal is a map that size wise, actually feels pretty good as a "large" map. From the comparison posts from launch, it's about twice as big as Arras which isn't bad. The issue imo is the way points are laid out and clustered together. They're way too far away. What I think DICE should do is essentially establish a split in the map - on the desert side, flags should be further apart and more vehicle oriented. In the layout I've made, flags on the desert side are 300m+ apart. The only changes I've made to that side is the addition of a B2 point (this area is already used as an objective in Breakthrough). So the desert side would include the B and A sectors which would favor vehicles more heavily as they're outdoors. For the C sector, I added two points on each end of the wall. This creates a roughly 200m way to reach C from both A and B sectors, which is far more doable for infantry than it currently is. On the green side, the addition of D3 and D4 create a 4 flag layout for that sector and means you can reach D sector from C sector in anywhere from 100 to 250 meters. The addition of E2 makes E sector closer to every other sector, as right now it's about 400 to 600 meters from another flag which is far too much.
What this layout creates is two different flows for CQ: a more close quarters infantry focused on one side with E, C, and D sectors, and a more vehicle focused flow on the other side with objectives that are further apart. But once you cross over to the green side, no flag is further than 250m apart, and most are between 100m and 200m apart. I don't think adding more flags would work every map, but with Renewal it would improve the flow a ton imo.
I also think in general this would just be more fun to play on, especially if you add more ways to prevent vehicles from reaching the inner objectives (C1, D4, C2, D3, E2). You could even reorganize the layouts so that 5 flag stretch is a single sector - essentially like the C flag on Devastation but multiple flags instead of 1. It'd make it a bit more useful to control the 3 C flags, as you can effectively lock a team out of one side of the map so long as they don't backcap.
