Battlefield World Tour for Portal now requires 4 PLAYERS to start? Why?

In the past, this restriction never existed and there was no reason for the restriction to exist. I am from a region that only plays exclusively Portal servers, and at peak times, there is just 1, 128 Player server that gets full. There's no one who plays other modes, so now that I am locked out of what I used to play in Portal such as World Tour, I am now restricted from even more of the experience in 2042 that I used to enjoy... I don't see the end of life for 2042 going well...

Further more, the AI is significantly better than it was before, way better than even beginners, this player count restriction needs to be deleted from the game.

I don't think you understand what I am saying. Each server that starts up in the cloud EA/DICE has to pay for, it looks like they no longer want to pay for servers with just one guy in it.

I perfectly understand what you're saying. And I'm saying it doesn't make sense.

If EA/DICE cared about server costs, they wouldn't have allowed so many XP Farms to exist. Furthermore, they already run Co/op servers at a lower tick rate, so they're already saving on costs, which in my opinion is scummy, no where does it say in game that Co/op servers will run at a lower tick rate.

I paid for the game, I should be getting what I paid for. It's really that simple. This issue of server costs, is not the consumer's problem, it's EA/DICE's problem. They wanted to go the route of live service, they must now own the responsibility that comes with it. I also want to point out that server hosting is far more optimized than it was a few years ago. It's not as expensive because they're all run in bulk on machines far more capable than those of yesteryears such as during BF4's era. Yet despite this, 2042 always had server problems after every season launched, so the issue once again boils down to how the backend was maintained, especially with how 2042 interacted with EA App.

If a player wants to play with just the AI, they should be able to do so without any kind of impediment such as XP restrictions.

I hope you understand my point, that these underhanded anti-consumer changes are all telling me not bother with the next Battlefield title.

*edit* Furthermore, it's not like 100's of servers will be spun up in a single region for World Tour, each of those servers with a single person in it. The way Portal experiences work is such that only one instance of World Tour runs until that instance fills up. So the argument that there will be servers with just 1 guy in it... Really doesn't make sense because it's just 1 server per region, not 10 servers with 1 person in each of them.

And ultimately, what's a low pop region supposed to do? Use a VPN and ruin the experience for other people? The return of AI to 2042 was supposed to fix these issues not make it worse for the player.

I strongly believe the recent decision to increase the number of players needed to start Official Weekly Portal Experiences should be reversed.

One player starts removed so much of the time consuming frustration associated with queueing in Lobbies.

Once they are started they can fill up fairly quickly anyway.

DICE please make life easier for the remaining player base and bring back one player starts to all Official Weekly Portal Experiences.

I noticed yesterday that Conquest of Ages now requires a minimum of 8 players to start.

Imho Increasing these Official Weekly Portal Modes has been an unnecessary backward step, most of them like World Tour used to be single player starts.

At this late stage of the games life when the player base is shrinking single player starts are more essential than ever to ensure all players have access.

Maybe they think they will attract more players by increasing the number of players needed for a start. 😉

World Tour and all of the Official Weekly Portal Experiences should revert back to single player starts asap.

It worked well before and single player starts are even more essential than ever at this stage of the games life.

If the game is going to survive it is important that the remaining player base have access at all times.
