BF2042 Shotguns need fixing

I think...

MCS-880:
    Decrease pellet Dispersion, or increase pellets. MCS needs stability of One Shot Kill at a distance.

12M Auto:
    #01 buckshot can't kill targets with One Shot. 12M Auto is OP now.

What's your opinion?

  • @DeadBroiler Omg i wanted to write this so badly, but was focused on some other topics i had in mind as well. But oh man shotguns are so useless most of the except super 500 which is like very close shotty.

    They are literally useless, i shot dude from behind and happened alot of times already from like 2 meters away in the head region and he survived offc and turns around and kills me wtf.

    GVT is somehow okay but is sorta rifle hybrid MCS 880 is totally useless. Auto shotty needs abit of balancing but i wouldnt nerf it too much.
  • @DeadBroiler How or why should a shotgun be a one shot kill at a distance? Slugs would be the modifier to achieve that, pellets should not be killing in a single shot unless within 30-35m. Every other weapon takes more than 1 shot. Throw in the crossplay on netcode and you can’t even be sure you’re aimed right at your target, so a good portion of pellets are probably missing.

    @UP_Hawxxeye Lol if anyone is looking for consistency they’re playing the wrong game. But seriously a shot gun with pellets at 35m, that’s 70 feet should not be a one shot kill. I’d like to see chokes brought back, so then if you set a tight choke to get the range then it lacks in the close in fighting.

    @ATFGunrHave you ever fired a shotgun in IRL. I have shot those flying clay disks and let me tell you how effective the shotgun range is IRL and it does alot of damage. Safety is huge when dealing with those shotguns and how much they can kick back, if you're not holding it correctly and safely operating it.

    Man some of this devs need to go on some shooting range more. So any Military grade shotgun should be 100% 1 shot inside 35 meters, if aimed at chest and above properly.

    @FarystarLovesBF1 I was an air defence artilleryman in the Canadian military in the 90s, so yes. I’ve fired from .22 up to 35mm, including shotguns. Skeet and clay will shatter at a single pellet, a human is more than that. Even more if they have body armor on. 70 feet is a tremendous distance for buckshot, it’s a spray of .32 cal pellets fired in an ever expanding cone. Without a choke to constrain those pellets, you’re not going to get a kill shot at that range. We’re not talking RL anyway, it’s a video game where they have to restrict lots of real life performance to create some level of balance. They failed in a lot of instances. Should an SMG be accurate to over 200m? But explain that to the PP29. Should pistols be so accurate out past 25m? Not in normal circumstances anyways. Would a tank shell blow us all up if close by? Between kinetic and concussive force, plus shrapnel, then yes. It’s a video game so we don’t all die from that one tank shell. Find out what works and use that to your advantage. Also consider when you ask “have you ever”, it’s a public forum you’ll find that we all have a wide variety of experiences. Your question comes off as cocky and condescending and it’s not a good look man.

    @ATFGunrOh offc some guns need nerf still and rebalance specially SMG's range. Nah ATF didn't meant as cocky at all, but close range from 2 or 3 metters cmon man, that is insta kill from military grade MCS 800. And i tested all the different ammo type for MCS 800 not working as intended.

    But respect for you service from other side of the ocean.

    @FarystarLovesBF1 2-3 m of course, but I can’t get onboard at 35m. The 880 is bad, I get it. The 870 was great back in the day. They could give it some love for sure, just not a one shot kill at range.

    The MCS 880 seems to have a choke already if the reticle is any indication.
    It is in that weird spot where its pellet cone is so tight yet inaccurate/random.

    The 12M auto on the other hand is mostly fine, though a OHK at 1-2m would not be that wrong.

    As about the other shotguns:

    I would like to see the shotguns that need to be reloaded one cartridge at a time to be able to interrupt their reload animation and shoot when we pull the trigger, like in BF3/4

  • Before Update #3.0.0, MCS #04 buckshot can kill target with One Shot at 20m, it was stable.
    After Update #3.1.2, MCS #01 buckshot can kill target with One Shot at 20m too, but 15-20m One Shot Kill is unstable by increase of pellet Dispersion and decrease of pellets.
    I hope stability of MCS One Shot Kill at 20m.
