BF2042 XP Soldier Progression and Ranking Up

EA appear to have changed a bit the way we are awarded XP for our progression during gameplay.  As not all activities are counted as of equal 'XP value'.

More XP is awarded when playing towards the objective and that you stay together with team and squad during the gameplay.  Taking the designated flag and supporting your teammates, etc.  You still get XP for killing enemy players, assisting action etc, though this appear to be at lower XP award levels than the primary category.

So PTFO definitely got a boost here, if you are out to reap the max XP from your gaming!  I definitely like that the XP scheme is now better linked with playing towards the objective, so everybody now have aligned incentives when playing the game.

Ribbons are also making a welcome return to the BF2042 game and we get accelerated number of XPs the more we do of a certain beneficial actions in the game.  So a tiering system, with 3 tiers in total, where you can level up to multipliers of ribbon value for each area you may repeatedly score in during a game round.

Here just a selection of the 5 most common ribbons, but there are also many more special ribbons in the BF2042 game.

RANKING UP:

We start out with our soldier at XP level 0.  And we can keep ranking up to XP level 99.  Each level you rank up, will unlock new weapons, gadgets, accessories, etc.

When reaching XP level 99, then you will have unlocked all the weapons in the game.  All the specialists, all the gadgets, all the vehicles.  Plus the related cosmetics...

On the scoreboard at end of round, we will see the areas in which we scored the most XP:

Once we our soldier ranked up past the max at XP level 99, then we move into a special S class, that starts at level S001.  And this allegedly goes all the way up to maxing out at level S999.  So like 1000+ levels in the total game.  When reaching the S class level, there will no longer be any unlocks for you.  Its then all about the grinding of XP for the S class ranking up.

Next to all this, we will see something new from DICE called the MASTERY system...  Linked to all the weapons and vehicles in the game.  So the more points and kills we get with them, the more custom items we get to them.  That includes cosmetics and badges associated with the weapon/vehicle.  This system has again 5 distinct levels, as you rank up the Mastery level.

Highest Mastery level is signified by the distinct black and sharp red color scheme.  Here examples of a Specialist at the top master level and an attack chopper:

DICE has warned that to achieve the top level of Mastery for any weapon, vehicle or specialist, we should expect a lot of hard grinding to get there...

The badges you achieve can be utilized on your player card, which is something like your soldier avatar/business card for the game.

So quite some more info there about your soldier compared to in previous games.  Apart from all the stats like soldier level and gaming platform, then we can ourselves decide what artwork we want on the card and what special earned badges we want to display at the bottom there.  Your player card will be shown on the killcam to enemies when you kill them, so they will clearly be shown your stats.  The player card is also shown at game round scoreboards, so everybody can see the profile of the high scoring players in various aspects of the game.

EA also announced that there would be some 'special events and challenges' in the game in the months ahead, which also would unlock special 'collectables' in the game, which can be shown on your player card.

These special events/happenings actually sounds like some sort of Easter Eggs to me, so looking forward to hearing more on that!  😎

All in all, EA clearly learned from recent flawed progression models in aka BF1 and BFV and it sounds like now all progression is truly linked directly with relevant PTFO gameplaying.  So really excited to get started with the beta next week and seeing it live! 👍
