maps in battlefield 3 and bad company 2 looks better...
I guess you all don't remember how BF4 was when it first launched. It was a steaming pile of a *.

- claudiu1114 years agoSeasoned Scout@CantGetRight But at least it was feature complete. 2042 doesn't even have 30% of the content that bf4 launched with.
- rainkloud4 years agoSeasoned Ace@claudiu111 Who cares if it was feature complete if so many of the features are broken or redundant? Much better to release content as it is ready to launch rather than dump a bunch of buggy unbalanced stuff.

next battlefield game will be a bf4 BUT exactly the same or BF serie will die..... they will not fool anyone again with just a trailer
- frekwalda14 years agoSeasoned Ace@CantGetRight yes BF4 was bad at the beginning then the put in CTE and had the community put input what needed to be fixed and we got to test it before it was put out to the public. The CTE help restore faith in the game, this is what 2042 needs a CTE area to get the community involved to help the devs and DICE get this game were it needs to be.

https://libredd.it/r/battlefield_4/comments/1yptl9/i_love_this_game_the_bf4_hate_circle_jerk_is/- 4 years ago@Stew360 Sure BF4 had its problems, but those problems where bugs and server issues. Still at launch BF4 whas a fun game in it´s core and you could see it´s potential.
BF2042 in the other hand is not a fun game and needs a major overhaul to it´s core gameplay wich is much bigger issues than the BF4 launch. But thats my oppinion, but it seems like the majority of the playerbase feels this way. - Jozso9874 years agoRising Veteran@Stew360 Why do we keep talking about the past? Just why? Who cares about BF4, or any other BF game? It's 2022, and Battlefield 2042 is just released. It's the newest game, which is "supported" (lol) by Dice. They threw the other games out of the window. And man, is it released in a terrible state! It tells everything about 2042 tho, that people are comparing it to a 8(!!!!!!) years old game! 8 years old, bro. What's wrong with you? BF4 was terrible, but at least it had content. Cool maps with levolutions, tons of vehicles, weapons with laser sights, thermal vision, night vision, etc. 2042 has 4 slots on a weapon (sometimes just 3 XD), 6-8 attachment to each slots, and most of them are just copies of each other, lol! I can't believe you defend this! Absolutely can't believe!

Watch the intro video in battlefield 4. listen to that music, feel that background. Look at the dogtags. nice fiction. Ok, let's throw away the old ones, but where are the new ones? 🙂

100% this. Don't get me wrong, BF4 is one of my favorites, loved the challenges, Easter eggs, weapons and maps, getting DICE cammo....but oh my God that launch was the worst. It took forever to get fixed as well.
But hey, guess many forgot the beginning and focus more at the end product.

Bf4 is the reason why I stopped pre ordering games.
It started as a complete mess but ended up pretty good once dice LA got involved

Thats what it comes down to, many are upset that they pre-ordered a game with some preconceived idea on how the game will be. Once they got it, it wasn't what they expected.
The reality is with games being digital now, there is no need to pre-order since their is no fear the game will be out of stock. One could have played the beta, get the play for free trial, or wait for first reviews before they decided to buy the game.
With all the free options to test, it baffles me why people buy before they try nowadays.
- foff6674 years agoNew Ace@CantGetRight I think that in itself is part of the problem, the BF franchise keeps reinventing itself from the ground up with every iteration since BF4...look at hardline not even made by dice, just happened to be using the frostbite engine but they added alot of good new mechanics such as being able to grab health/ammo off of medics/support but was ultimately received as a failure because it wasn't a modern war style game the vehicles just weren't what people were looking for for sure. BF1 vehicles were AWESOME anyone with eyes could see the vehicle game play was fun at least for those in the vehicles, but there were also pretty good counters to them, BFV was just bad, very buggy even to this day, the vehicle gameplay its terrible but it had some new mechanics and some features such as building fortifications that I had high hopes for going forward along with call ins for good squad performance.
2042 has no voip so you aren't getting good squad performance, no scoreboard(which is apparently a legacy feature) and pulled alot of the bad things from BFV and threw them in the game such as the tank turret movement and the bugs that actually go with the tanks(zooming in and out randomly when you hold down the zoom button, this bug was in BFV and still is to this day), the maps feel like a blank canvas with very little cover where you'd think cover should be even if its sparse. Either way you can't compare this launch with the BF4 launch, new teams and while dice LA made BF4 great by the end they only have their hands in portal and I'm pretty sure they are a shell of their BF4 self so who knows what we'll actually see going forward. No excuses, lets see action!- 4 years ago

No excuses, lets see action!I get this, but at the same time EA is a business and has to show growth. Keeping the status quo may keep all the BF veterans (or at least most) happy but in all honesty that is a small portion of the business. To be able to gain growth, one needs to make changes and follow trends to stay relevant, I mean imagine if a game like Super Mario Brothers stayed as a side scroller instead of evolving into a 3D game along with many offshoots (i.e. Mario Cart)?
The reality is that making a reskinned game with the same legacy features can keep the loyal at bay, it tends not to get the incremental growth needed to continue a franchise. Now did DICE maybe do too many changes too fast? Maybe, but in the end they did have to do something different or else they would have had the amount of initial sales that they did.
Only time will tell to be honest; many forget but the community was initially not very impressed about levelution. Many said it was very repetitive, unnecessary, and distracted people from PTFOing. But look at how many people reference it now as "this is what Battlefield is". People as a whole are resistant to change, and there is plenty of evidence in the forums of that, who knows maybe over time when the game has more content and is smoother, people will be referencing how good the game compared to the new BF title in the future (that's been the trend so far).
