Not my lone opinion, most of the community agrees. They were not universally hated, nor to the same degree as this game, that's the difference. None of them have a rating this low. So at least BF3 has a server browser, and at least there was an option for VOIP. That game is over 10 years old, what is the excuse for a 2021 game having even less features? The "older games had complaints" excuse has zero merits whatsoever, because the issues with this game are far greater than anything we've seen in this franchise yet.
"There is a scoreboard in 2042."
A half assed one that doesn't show everyones score, what the hell is the point of that?

I don't think statements like that will help improve peoples attitudes, do you.?
Players didn't get what they wanted and guess what they come on to these official forums to complain and request restoration of core elements / changes that are important to them.
Maybe you should stop coming on the forums if you feel that way because players will continue to voice their opinions, they always have and they always will, it's your decision.

I bought BF4 at release on PS3 and then upgraded to the PS4 version once they came out. Sure the game had plenty of bugs and net code issues but when I got into a server and was playing it was a really fun game with lot's of customization options and things to unlock. Plus the vehicles all felt very satisfying to drive/pilot and picking a class/loadout actually gave you more options for how to play infantry than the free for all system of 2042. No matter how buggy it was when I did get a good round in I had so much fun it made me want to play it even more, like to the point I was obsessed with playing as much as I could.
2042 might technically be in a slightly better release state but it's a shallow experience and the more I play it the less I like it. Two months from release and I'm down to maybe a couple of hours a week played because the game play is just boring. Besides the lack of customization for infantry/vehicles the maps being so open really diminishes the experience. On most of the maps in 2042 you can move from one capture point to any other on the map with very few, if any, obstacles in the landscape funneling the action. It's just people everywhere going and coming from every direction. You can't really do a proper flank most times because there is no "front", if you get behind one enemy it's almost certain another will be in position to shoot you as soon as you drop the first. So I'd say a big part of what makes BF4 a better experience is the maps have terrain that produces a natural flow where the majority of people advance/retreat together along corridors, causing you to feel like more a part of the team even playing solo. And getting on the flank or rear of the enemy line actually means something.

@Chief2GFD wrote:@RayD_O1 Voicing concerns or requesting changes be made, done the right way is great. Coming on here and straight up trashing the devs, making threats, and acting childish doesn't make the community as a whole look good.
And the majority of posters on these forums are giving constructive feedback / criticism. It may not be what you or the developers want to hear but most of them are factual posts.
There are occasions when posts can be over the top but many are well documented examples of why they feel the game is not up to scratch.
It is sad that the community has a lot of negativity but that is surely down to the state of the game.

@CantGetRight Bitching and whining? Look who is talking, you are doing that now. The steam players are meaningful because they serve as a proxy for the whole player base. You are delusional if you think other platforms are also not being abandoned as the reviews are horrid on all platforms. It's not perfectly functional, it doesn't tell you half the information previous ones did. It might be all you need, but its not all what other people need. Score is relative, so what does it matter knowing only what you have? Utterly meaningless. I have 20 kills yipee! How well am I doing compared to other players? So you cherry pick one thing BF3 didn't have, what about all the other things that it did have that this 10 year newer game doesn't have? You continue to ignore that. Clearly you are an agitated fanboy. Enjoy the game for now, you won't be for long when its dried up and empty.

@TheCompton73 Yes absolutely, BF4 was worth fixing, this game is not, that's the difference. BF4 still managed 6 - 7 out of 10 reviews because the core gameplay is decent, that's not the case with 20 40 poo. Maps lacking cover means infantry play is wrecked to hell. The made these maps for Hazard Zone and just shoehorned conquest and breakthrough onto them, it's blatantly obvious.
