Hi folks,I know there are more pressing issues with the game and I know at this point the removal of the specialists is most likely out of the discussion for Dice but the dev team should a at least reconsider balancing some of the specialists.The worst of them, and I think a lot of players in the community agree, is Boris.If the removal of the turret and assigning another gadget to this specialist is not doable in the sense it takes to much dev time, at least make him use the turret like Casper is using his drone instead of letting the damn thing kill players in 2 seconds. This way the Boris players have to aim and not let the game play for them. I dislike half of the specialists in 2042 but this one I hate and I'm impressed he has gotten the OK from your QA team. Ofc I realize EMP grenades are a thing, and you can use a recoilless to 1 shoot it but as the weeks pass I see more and more Boris players camping with their turrets and this makes the game unbearable and capturing points not fun. I want to fight against players not an aimbots. Please take this request into consideration and like stated above I think making him actually use the turret instead of letting it autoaim players is a good change, this ofc if other community members dont have a better idea.Regards,OzZ

People been complaining about this thing for months now, so expect an update about it in 2023

I don’t feel that anything needs to be changed with Boris. His utility is exactly what the game needs. And there are plenty of counters for it. His turret is not armored at all and can be took out rather quickly.

@OzzLinkAn fps can have any element it wants lol…. Team fortress had turrets and many other fps games have too!If your stupid enough to not shoot them and run around like a headless chicken you deserve to get killed by them!You can tell by this thread alone battlefield 2042 has just tuned into a large player count tdm game.You can kill a turret with a basic rifle with a paltry 7 rounds and with some snipers a massive 2 rounds and 64 players have this opportunity to completely nullify boris’s ability but this is getting in the way of peoples next kill isn’t it!

@emerson1975I just do not get players who want to only deal with infantry and yet choose BF over other brands

It's not even fun to use as Boris. You have to practically be sitting on top of it for it to be any use. Changing it to a remote control device like Casper's drone would be a lot better for everyone.

or at a minimum remove the highlighting of the player that the turret spots and change it to minimap spotting. remove the crutch and make people have to at least be somewhat aware of what is going on

@OzzLink Lets keep in mind that EMP grenades should be a thing, but currently they aren't. Both EMP grenades (Sundance and normal) are more likely to go off in your face instead of your intended target.
The explode on windows, they explode in window frames where there used to be a window, the explode on dust, steam, fog, grass straws etc.

On the other hand Boris turrets are cheating, they constantly use wall hacks, and they have this "spot - shoot - wait" cycle. Maybe the solution could be a "spot - wait - shoot - wait" cycle. And maybe a better algorithm would be helpful, AI seems to always know exactly where you are.

This is why my suggestion is to make the turret player controlled and not auto aim the targets. I think the change fits the specialist nature as a defence role in the squad and cuts the bad design.

I personally think Ranger makes for a better auto turret despite having larger spread at range - the time between intervals, it's audio cue, and the fact that most specialists just hide behind their turrets don't really make him a threat in my eyes.

I do agree about making his turret a more active weapon though - I don't exactly know how to balance the health and damage but it would make the role more interesting

@OzzLink I was never good at using Boris. And I do get downed by his turret frequently. But, honestly, the turret is effective at securing objectives and blind spots. I think it makes the game more exiting. Plus, camping is allowed in BF, if it makes you contribute to the objective. I’ve seen it endless times when players fend off incoming enemies. It’s valuable for the team. I like the idea of making it similar to Casper’s gadget, but then again it might have zero recoil and endless ammo; a campers dream. What I suggest is make it explode when the IT guy hacks it, damaging whoever’s near it. By the way, the IT guru is a very effective specialist in enabling stinger users and disabling droids. If only the stinger locks on properly
