Bots in former Battlefield titles?

Question to EA/DICE: I understand there will be bots in 2042 which means servers will always be full. For me, playing on console, this comes as great news.

My question therefore is: are there plans to roll this out retrospectively ie. to former Battlefield games? The reason why I mentioned console is because some of the older, but still quality games are completely void of players. Even with bots I could still have some fun (subject to AI difficulty).

  • @LJBattlefieldNot sure I understood your message properly, however if you are asking if EA stand to make a profit then clearly the answer is no. If however they want to support their community then that would be one way of bringing their older titles from the dead, allow more players to play their favourite Battlefield game as opposed to just the latest. I am from a generation who owns all BF games and I would love to play Modern Combat multiplayer again. Besides, if the technology and programming is there surely it wouldn't be so difficult, or costly, a task?

No, sorry. There will be no major updates to legacy titles.

  • The Venice Unleashed mod for Battlefield 3 are working on bots. It already has them functional for infantry modes like TDM but it's unlikely there will be any official mods for older frostbite games.

The older refractor engine games support bots natively and have mods available to support them on all maps and player counts.

@Noodlesocks Thanks, but remember I'm playing on console, I am assuming if you are talking about mods then you are referring to PC. Shame to hear the response from EA but that's their decision.
