Beautifully written and really heartfelt.
I found my Battlefield family with the dawn of Battlefield 1 in the platoon SapTagNBag. At a time in my life that I needed something to hang on to, the members took me in like they'd known me for years.
Ive played Battlefield since Bad Company 2, but now it felt different. Every weekend became more than the end of the working week. It was something to really look forward to. A time when I could put my headphones on, fire up the PlayStation and be with friends. All sharing a common love for Battlefield. Lots of extremely late nights mostly ended with us in the menus. Just chatting, laughing. Sharing our lives with each other. The good, the bad, the indifferent.
We began to run a regular Saturday night event called the Saturday Showdown. Between us, we'd do the artwork, the promotional bits and pieces. It was a magical time. We'd get custom dogtags made for attendees as prizes. A thanks for supporting our evening and our platoon. Some 90 odd dogtags went out to 26 countries. Our friends list grew and grew.
And all of this was built on the foundation of platoons. It's fundamental to the spirit of the Battlefield community. Without it, we're effectively homeless. Left to the mercy of Twitter to try and keep the community together. Without it, the community will eventually fade and die. The essence of Battlefield.

Thank you for sharing that. Made me smile all the way through. Brought back so many of my own happy memories.
Taking this away from us and the opportunity for new people to discover it, is just plain wrong.
