Buff the DM7 and VCAR

Both weapons are extremely weak and get outgunned by every gun in the game including smgs at medium range (which shouldn’t happen). I’ve also noticed that the DM7 “jams” when I try and spam it in closes quarters, it has gotten me killed hundreds of times. The gun also seems to have some sort of bullet deviation along with spotty bullet registration on enemies. The same issues I just mentioned also plague the VCAR. Can you buff each so that they do more damage with standard issue/ close quarters rounds

  • @acousticxero The whole DMR category is pretty worthless right now, maybe outside f the SVK with high-powered rounds for 2-shotting people with body shots.

    And honestly, I don't even know what niche the VCAR is supposed to fill. That's one of the only guns I used a few times and haven't bothered with again.

    Even post-nerf, and it's in a good spot right now TBH (it's just other weapons/weapon classes that are busted), the AC-42 grossly outclasses most DMR's so far.

    @acousticxero Agree, dem DMR's need some buffs.

    @edgecrusherO0 My DMR is AC-42, even the 0.4.0 update nerf it's still decent.
    About DMR category it's ehh, SVK is nice, DM7 is ok but all other guns just outguns it, and VCAR not sure about it, it feels like a AC-42 but with more bullets and less distance, more like close range shotgun DMR?

    Currently still leveling DMRs T1's most are ~600/1,200, and VCAR was fun when i was able to bug it somehow, like i changed ammo types many times, and ended up with VCAR which didn't require me to reload, pretty much i was able to spam it infinitely.
  • @acousticxero Personally, I would tone down other weapons first, especially SMGs in the ranges you mentioned and see where that goes.

    SMGs are still to dominant in my opinion.

    A minor tweak to the AC42 wouldn't hurt either.

    But this is what we get when spread mechanics are removed, fewer balance variables to differentiate weapon classes.

    The DMR class has always been one that's specialized for those who are aggressive enough but still want to place some distance between themselves and their target. That said, the DM7 is definitely underpowered in comparison to the SVK even when using the high power rounds. It's not nearly as accurate as it should be, either. These are precision rifles for field use. Not quite on par with bolt action sniper rifles, but definitely a more accurate and powerful bridge between general battlefield rifles and bolt actions. They don't feel like that at all. To be outgunned by a spray and pray hero and distance using either an assault rifle or SMG is asinine.

    The VCAR, while fun at times, is a very niche and could use a select fire option to be truly viable even though that's not a feature on the real version of the weapon. Either that or it needs more power or a higher ROF. Unless you get the drop on someone, in most instances, you're going to be the one on the respawn screen.
