@ATFGunrThe MAV has the biggest healthpool in the game, and there IS directional damage in 2042, since it was a rumor for a while that there isn't. There's some exceptions, e.g. Lizzles have no directional damage, but regular launchers do, maybe the SRAW does too? If you hit it at the front, you will deal very little damage. That being said, I do believe its repair thing recharges waaaay too fast, though I don't know if bots actually use those.
I haven't tried the SRAW yet, but I wonder how low its damage is... The BF4 SRAW had low damage and that was fine, it also had fast reloads and lots of ammo. If it's like the M5, that thing will also need more than +1 rocket. - UP_Hawxxeye2 years agoLegend@Lady_One
On the loading screen there are even tips that say that the MAV has the strongest frontal armor in the game.
Yeah, hitting the vehicle from the sides and especially the rear, hurts a lot more - Lady_One2 years agoNew Ace
@MADMAC50K The APS should probably be reduced by ~3-4 seconds. IIRC it's 8 seconds for tanks. I dunno if it's the same for all vehicles, but it should be shorter than 8 seconds. Have a clip of some APS frustrations, with a bonus:
[video]If it worked as the description states (not intercepting stuff up close), I think that would be good.
Some of the weapons on ground vehicles are also OP (or in some cases waaay underpowered). The HE shells are OP, you've probably never experienced it but you can clearly see the TOR shotgun is OP as it has way too little falloff, the RAM howitzer is unfun. Sadly 2042 has another regression from BF4, and that's the lack of fixed shotgun spread, so every vehicle canister weapon simultaneously feels bad to use because the spread is random (save for the TOR which fires fast enough that this doesn't matter too much), and it feels bad to play against because you get 1shot from 20m+. Among plenty of other issues... Like let's say STAFF shells being crazy weak.

Remember how many vehicles vs how many soldiers are around. All they need is to overwhelm the vehicle instead of just people like you and me being the only ones who are not ignoring the enemy vehicle.

@UP_Hawxxeye8 and 4-5 seconds of APS are the difference between getting stuck on a rock and still having the time to get away, and being punished for that mistake.
Let's be honest, people are using APS not (just?) so they can get out when they got overwhelmed, but so they can shove themselves in a place where they know they would be overwhelmed, then score kills and get out, or so they can get more chances to get a kill with their atrocious aim. If bad aim is the design intention behind 8 seconds APS and behind HE shells splashing like crazy, then fix the underlying issue - the stupidity of aiming in a vehicle, where a bit of roll throws everything off (dumb for gunners too!), 3p aim has the turret lag while 1p aim doesn't let you aim past the turret.
And besides, 4 vs 8 seconds won't change stuff like Liz players sleeping in their own spawn, that you can't ever touch. - UP_Hawxxeye2 years agoLegend
@Lady_One
This opens up a lot of discussion about the physics of vehicles and how much even small rocks can affect them.
Like I said in another post in one of the other threads, I think they need to find a middle ground between a single infantry being too dangerous on their own to a vehicle and how a single APS/Flare can stop an infinite amount of anti vehicle gadgets during their window of effectiveness. The liz missiles seem to be able to have that mult-iperson cumulative effectiveness vs ground vehicles but only if there is not a single sentinel invalidating all that cooperation.
Meanwhile they are still bad for small aircraft, aka the things that they are needed for the most.
One of the Biggest BAD nerf moves Dice made was to nerf the daylights out of the NTW-50.
Yes it might have been overpowered a bit, but why did they have to cut it in half!!!
Even a 10-20% damage reduction would have still made it a viable option against vehicles.
It was at least an option, now it 1 shots people to 100 yards, but takes 12 shots or more for a tank, which is virtually impossible to do with the reload time being horrendous.
It was an Anti-Vehicle option that was completely Nerfed into nothingness.
It needs to come back with a buff to vehicle damage specifically. Leave the 1 shot kill level at 100 yards, but the high power rounds need to be added to this as well.
It seems crazy that the high power anti-material rounds cant kill anyone past 50 yards with one shot, but do hardly any extra damage to vehicles at any range....
This needs to be fixed, or just remove the gun.. it has no official purpose now.
Don’t worry if I was using that vehicle it only takes two rockets after hitting repair and having both guns shooting you with blood flying out of all the hit markers the vehicles get, but the other side of that is I’m instantly killed by vehicles barrel smoke and it’s rare to ever take them out. Five or six recoiless rockets at once does the trick, other than that all air and ground vehicles are invincible for my player and teammates while being a instant death trap while using them is the paradox in my experience with this glitchy game that should set a standard for what’s not allowed to be sold as a new game title.
