I'm an old man / old school battlefield player. There seems to be a lot of people having a whinge about base campers or enemies camping bases and blowing up vehicles leaving the base. There's even server owners threatening to ban these players. WHY?I can understand the frustration but lets have a discussion about the pro's and *.In Battlefield 2042 we have the option to CALL IN vehicles anywhere on the map so, in theory THERE IS NO BASE.Some of us old school players remember the good old days of BF3 on maps such as Firestorm where all the vehicles spawned at base and were blown up by "campers on the hill" funny if you were on that team, annoying if it was your base. You know what we did? hunted them down and killed them in humorous ways. We didn't go off crying saying they're picking on me or rage quitting.If you haven't already seen it, watch Battlefield friends, the BASECAMPING one. Eventually base campers got bored and pulled back to let the others take back some ground.Look at it this way. If the other team has a squad outside your base that's 1 less squad on the map playing the objectives, in theory they should lose.If someone is sitting behind the red line popping off shots, GO GET THEM. There is many ways to do this. My preferred technique is a suicide run, parachuting in with C5, very satisfying.THIS IS BATTLEFIELD and should be used as such. Anything goes, NO RULES. Thicken up your skin and have fun with it. It's ONLY a game.

@turtlebeached As a long time bf player I see your point, But most the time it killed servers and made it unbearable when your team is full of idiots and dealing with the spawn camping made it worse.

@turtlebeached I do remember, that I still can spawn in the BASE when the opponent controls all flags.When the BASE is the only location I can spawn, it doesn't matter that I theoretically could call in a vehicle anywhere else on the map.

@turtlebeached I know but the amounts of servers that dont fill back up gets boring, that's why most servers worked on stopping it, keeps the population and gets more recommendations

@turtlebeachedThe "softcore" part of the community is the largest playerbase (by far) and they are perhaps more 'casual', but they pay the bills for Dice.Spawntraps are mostly annoying and they are not fun. This will make people leave and rightfully so, who wants to waste time play a boring / annoying game?If Dice designed the maps in a way, where you could fight back when getting spawn-trapped, it could perhaps be fun. Unfortunately many maps doesn't really take that into account and you often have to cross open areas without much cover. That makes infantry gameplay almost impossible, infantry are still 90% of the players..

@turtlebeached On our server we had the rules
* no base camping
* no base *
Offenders were warned, then admin killed, then kicked, and if that didn't changed the behavior for repeated offender, players got banned.

So I do understand when people hosting experiences do the same.
You can't build a community with toxic players.

@kregora I disagree. As I mentioned in my post THERE IS NO BASE in 2042. You must not have understood what you read. There is no need for admins, why should anyone have power over anyone else. Aren't we all equal these days?
My servers are free from any oppression, a place where real men, and women, or others can spawn onto a map and choose their own path. All gadgets are unlocked, unlimited mags, fast spawn for vehicles and infantry, spotting disabled so you have to be seen to be shot. It's a playground where you can vent all the frustrations of real life. Quite popular when I can keep it open with the EA server shut downs.

@PacNbowls You're right, it does thin out the herd a bit. Only the strong will stay in the server to get them back. It's how you can tell the decent players from the weak. The problem these days is that very few people play with VOIP and therefore cant formulate a plan to overcome. Maybe this will change as the game matures.

@kregora The trick is, Don't let them take all the bases. If they have, then use an air vehicle to get to the other end of the map where you should find very few enemies. I find those games are challenging and make you a better player. Too many people quit these days because they think life should be easy. It's not.

@turtlebeached You are oversimplifying the issue. For this point to be valid, you need access to an aircraft, and you should be sure, that your air crafts spawn location isn't camped by the enemy team.
There are issues with base * and base camping that are resolved efficiently by an admin, for the better of most other players on the server.
If you don't like how certain servers are managed, don't play on them, or follow the rules.

Which reminds me, maybe I should report more often.

Dude, I think you have this wrong. The saying should read, Treat others the way YOU would like to be treated. The objective of the game is to play the objectives which entails killing the enemy in the process. Are you suggesting that DICE add feather dusters to the loadout so we can tickle them? As for the tolerance thing, I don't think that has anything to do with base camping, more likely abusive chat and messages.

This game is supposed to be a simulated warzone that isn't governed by the Geneva convention. All we are doing is training the AI in tactical warfare.
