Can you command a BOT-AI Soldier to follow your orders ??

Regarding Bots / AI Soldiers.  Can anyone please tell me if..during SOLO play, you can actually lead / command your BOTS to follow you or attack? From what I've tried...they do NOT follow commands....which I think makes them close to worthless in SOLO.  If there is something you have to do thanks!
